I dont usually write reviews but felt compelled to after our recent experience. Firstly, i will start with the good points. The setting and cottages are idyllic. There is plenty to do within walking/driving distance and the cottage seemed to have everything we needed. Our first impressions were good, the vendors welcomed us warmly and the cottages were presented to... More

We booked a long weekend with friends, staying in hawthorn, helm and the barn. The owner showed us round on arrival, with the dos and dont's. We asked if we could use the court yard for a bbq in the evening and she said that was fine. The cotteges are in a small village with a post office and the... More

No complaints regarding the location of the cottage. After booking we expected a warm welcome from the owners on arrival who promised to be dog friendly too. We were not greeted well on arrival and were just handed our keys at the owners front door without discussion of any cottage itinerary or notice of any rules which we discovered existed... More

We booked three of the four cottages for a long weekend. One cottage had no working appliances and one of the couples slept on a pull out bed in the living room so people had to walk through to get to the rest of the house. Not allowed access to enclosed garden and not allowed to close gate of courtyard... More

We had a little midweek break as we have little ones and don't have to worry about term times, and from start to finish this holiday was brilliant. Ruth and Peter were lovely and welcoming , including a lovely basket of goodies which we were not expecting. The travel cot was all set up and ready for our baby which... More

My partner and I stayed in the Hendrick cottage in November for 4 nights. We had not planned to take my family dog with us, but at last minute we collected her from my parents home and took her with us. Peter and Ruth were very welcoming to both us and our dog - despite the fact we had not... More

We stayed at The Barn over the new year week. From the minute we arrived Peter and Ruth couldn't of been more helpful, their amazing hospitality is just one of the many contributors to making Church Court Cottages the wonderful place that it is. We stayed in the Barn, it was a home from home, very cozy and had a... More

We stayed for two nights in February and can't fault it - fantastic space, a lovely building. A lovely pub not far away, great walks all around too. We were left to our own devices and had a fantastic time recharging our batteries. Would strongly recommend to others.

We stayed at Barn Cottage for two nights and found it to be absolutely fantastic. The facilities exceeded our expectations and the cottage was beautifully furnished and spacious. The owners were extremely welcoming and helpful and provided lots of information on the local area and beyond. The Shepherds Inn in nearby Melmerby is a great pub. We would definitely recommend...
