We frequented this charming in today for our lunch as we are stopping nearby. Lovely and cosy. Excellent staff. Very warm and friendly. A special mention to the young girl who served us our food at the table. The food was gorgeous and very filling. Presented beautifully. Would def recommend to anyone passing by!!

Popped in for lunch after a walk on the fells. Friendly staff made me and my muddy dog welcome. Provided bowl of water for dog without being asked. Steak and ale pie was excellent!! Ale was perfect. Ambience and welcome just what I want from a country pub. If I'm back in this area I WILL come back. Cannot fault... More

Stayed one night on route home from Scotland, wish I'd had the time to stay longer. Tony gave a good welcome and nothing seemed too much trouble for him or his team. The room was basic but clean and good value, most importantly the bed was comfortable. In the evening I had a delicious meal in the pub and spent... More

Friendly staff, poor nice, ample parking and in handy location for the M6. The rooms and shared bathroom are, however, in need of a makeover. This is an old property as well, and the corridor along the rooms was creaky (character I know), but the walls are thin and this means that it can be noisy, even had to listen... More

I read a review on here recently by a so called Chef and I use that word lightly from the Penrith area. All I can say is I have worked the last 8 years in a very high profile business self employed and before that probably better. Point one if you were a Chef you would have a little bit... More

We stayed overnight on the 19th June in a lovely garden room, very clean and cheerful with a nice veranda overlooking the garden. The food was fabulous at dinner although the portions were massive! The staff were very pleasant and the overall atmosphere was relaxes and welcoming. We shall certainly be staying here again
