Interesting place, full of contrasts, but overall I came away disappointed. Lovely building, but village isn't inspiring right beside M6. Room was clean and had had a lick of paint, but shower and heating were woeful. Bed looked quite new, but the quilt was only 2-3cm thick so combined with poor heating meant a chilly disturbed sleep. Owners were pleasant... More

I am a regular at this guesthouse which is my location of choice whenever I visit Cumbria. I cannot praise the owners enough for their very high standards of cleanliness and very helpful, friendly attitude. As previous reviewers have pointed out, nothing is too much trouble. The breakfasts are freshly cooked and use locally sourced ingredients -they really set you... More

This was a stopover on the way to Scotland.Because I just needed a bed for the night I went for somewhere that was, frankly, cheap, but also looked comfortable.I can imagine that this would be ideal if you were walking, or as a very pleasant group I met were doing, cycling, in this area. I hope the owners will not... More

Stayed overnight in comfortable room after a day wandering around Buttermere. Breakfast was freshly cooked on request and you get exactly what you ask for. A proper cup of tea with leaves, not teabags was a welcome change from the norm. Highly recommend this B & B.

Lovely family run b n b. Has the feel of a hostel, without being rude. China used for tea was lovely. Room 6... Tiny room with single bed, but adequate. Powerful shower but very small. I found my self knocking the temperature knob whilst washing. Could do with a shelve in the bathroom as I had to put my mouth... More

Ideal for one night breakfast fine although room may be a little old fashioned and push button showers reminds us of Pontins it was comfortable clean and well equipped. Think the Herbalife sales a bit OTT

It was really hard to find a hotel or b&b which would accommodate a family of 5, this place was perfect, young children were excited about the room, there was a park across the road and a big breakfast to set us up for our day of exploring the lakes.

We stayed here as a family of four with two children under 5. We found the facilities below average, particularly considering the £95 per night room tariff. There was only one cup in the room and no teaspoons for tea/coffee making - facilities had clearly not been replenished and one of the bedside lamps did not have a lightbulb. No... More

Hosts were helpful, picking us up in Orton and the following day taking us several miles to rejoin the C2C. They refused any money for petrol. Our room was comfy and the Pub (Cross Keys Inn) that was suggested was the best pub we visited on our trip. It was fun Sat night in a local pub with terrific food... More
