Very average accommodation. Very over priced compared to the orher six weeks of accommodation we had during our six weeks in England. We had to ask twice for a new roll of toilet paper. Lounge room was messy and did not appear to be cleaned or tidied during our two nights stay. We had intended staying three nights but left... More

Hi Jennifer. Firstly may I say how sorry we are that you were so disappointed. We always try to please our guests and are unhappy when we fail to do that. I will try to run through your complaints one by one but I am unable to place your booking as i cannot remember anyone who left earlier than their... More

called in for a cuppa after walking up the lovely valley of borrowdale. (the one at tebay) My huband is a coilic and was pleasantly surprised they had a good choice of cakes as their daughter is coilic also. teapot and cups all mismatched china but nothing is better than a cup of tea out of china and with the... Thank you for your comments. I'm glad you enjoyed the walking and very pleased that you enjoyed your refreshments afterwards. We do like to think of ourselves as welcoming to all customers including those who have specific food requirements and indeed tend to feel our speciality is gluten free foods. More

Just off the main road half way between Kendal and Penrith a great little B&B. Steve and his wife are gracious hosts most knowledgeable and friendly. The breakfast was awesome. With fresh duck eggs provided. The common lounge room was a great place to relax after a great day touring the lakes district. Sure there are stairs but then on... More

Our one-night stay here was fantastic! The owners are so hospital and accommodating to ensure that you have everything you need for your stay! We found the bedrooms clean, nicely prepared, and exactly as described. The bathroom was in excellent working order and provided powerful, hot water. The breakfast the next day was brilliant and kept us full for the... More

Outstanding value for money - no frills, but a genuinely friendly welcome and a clean and comfortable room with modern en-suite shower and a terrific breakfast. I used it as a stopover on a long drive but it's in an exceptionally lovely part of the country and would make a perfect base for an activity holiday.

We were very kindly picked up from Orton by Steve and driven to Tebay while on our Coast to Coast walk. This review may be skewed because we booked via the agent who organised our trip, so we don't know what price bracket this B&B belongs to, but in comparison to other places we stayed in, the room was very... "The Old School" is a great value B&B for outdoor activities in the lakes. Tebay is a small village with a nice pub (The Cross Keys) just down the road from the B&B, and there are some excellent walks, fell runs and biking trails that start literally from behind the B&B. The B&B itself is quiet and cosy and has... More

We arrived late after a long and journey and were made very welcome by Steve on arrival. Great place to stay, warm and comfortable rooms accompanied a good breakfast in the morning - set our weekend in the Lakes off to a perfect start. Steve gave us some helpful advice before heading out walking. Would happily stay again. Thanks!

This is a gem of a B&B if you want peace, friendly service and good food. We arrived late after a day's driving in torrential rain, but they asked for our choice of food on the phone and it was all ready when we arrived. Very clean, shop and teashop on site, amazingly quiet location (mainly sheep and hills outside!)... More

The owners are friendly and accomodating. This old youth hostel has been nicely modernised and I stayed there during a weekend mountainbiking and hiking in the Lakes. I liked the quiet accomodation, drying rooms, bike cleaning facilities and fantastic food (it does include a tea room). I would prefer a 4* hotel with bike wash - but I wouldn't want... More
