A pretty village pub with a very small bar area which serves a wonderful selection of well kept real ale and interesting food. Large family/function room at the rear and a pretty garden. Everyone was crowded into the bar area and despite there being some vacant space at a table, it was make quite clear that we were not welcome... More

Lovely pub and BandB, staff exceptionally friendly. We stayed for just one night as we were attending a wedding at nearby Hedsor Hall. We arrived at lunchtime, so had a light bite in the bar to start. I had the devilled lambs kidneys, which were lovely, but benefitted greatly from the added salad pinched from my son's bacon sandwich. Son... More

The hotel is in a quiet location but still within easy access of the motorways. The room was clean and a good size. My partner was particularly impressed that the room had a teapot to make a proper brew. The ensuite had a bath with a really good shower over it. Everything was as you would like to find it.... More

Stayed overnight at the end of March as were meeting another couple who lived locally, for dinner & drinks. The place has a nice character and in a good location, easy to find. Room no. 10 was at the front but the road outside is pretty quiet at night. It was clean & simple, but a few downsides - 1)... More

Good beer and good bar food served by very pleasant bar staff. Happy to serve residents into the small hours. Good full English breakfast too. Rooms were comfortable with good linen and towels. Plenty of hot water. Main host told us he and his family before him have owned this place since the 1970s and long may they continue.

Having purchased some tickets for the Garsington Opera we needed a place to stay overnight and found the Chequers Inn on the internet. The Inn is about twenty minutes away from Garsington but as there were six of us the taxi fare was not prohibitive. We could have driven but we all enjoy to have a drink. The cost of... More

We stayed last weekend while attending a wedding locally. The room was clean and well appointed. Downside was the noisy plumbing and the fact I couldn't get the shower cool enough for me though my OH was quite content. Scrambled egg was divine but downside of breakfast was lack of vegetarian options..and the pub menu was very limited in this... More

We stayed at the Chequers after attending a wedding locally. We were welcomed warmly and our room was very clean, comfortable and newly decorated. The bathroom was also freshly refurbished, nice thick towels, good drenching shower. The only downside was the noise of the plumbing. Breakfast was very good, choice of full English or continental and served in a very... More

This is an excellent overnight business hotel/pub. Rooms are very clean and a good size. Breakfast is good. The views from the second floor across the fields is very nice. The road outside is quiet at night but the front bedrooms are literally a few feet from it so any passing cars are audible. Not bad but noticeable. The rear... More
