The pub looks great, loads of character out and in. Menu good (not too extensive which is a good sign), beer very good (only 2 ales on draft) kept well. The food was super. Shame it was so quiet. A Wednesday evening. Being out of the way in a little village, it's a destination pub/restaurant - worth the trip though.

We took a look at the Canonteign Falls and decided it was too close to lunch to partake so we turned around and headed back to the main drag ... then I saw the sign for the Cridford and took a chance . What a lovely pub with friendly staff and such a super spot. We both had local mussels... More

We have stayed at the Cridford Inn a number of times over the last 8 years so we were looking forward to spending some time there as as we had booked a room for one night and dinner. We checked in late afternoon and popped upstairs to our usual room, the Axe, with some drinks. A shower and siesta later... More

Lunch time meal here with their usual varied menu never disappoints. We had a salmon and a curry-both better than pub standard. Even found room for Eton mess which again delicious.what made it even better being able to eat outside in the sun. Only downside the place is for sale-so will have to try their sister place The Phoenix in Chudleigh

We went here one lunchtime for food with my family and thoroughly enjoyed our meals. Unlike other recent reviewers we had no problem with having the fixed price menu at lunchtime and the service was helpful and friendly allowing us to enjoy the food in a relaxed atmosphere. Although there weren't many people (it was Feb lunchtime) when we first... More

It's always a bit of a sinking feeling when you pull into a pub car park, at peak time on a Friday lunchtime, only to find one other car parked there. We had selected the Cridford because it used to enjoy a good reputation (admittedly a long time ago), and they were offering a 2 courses for £9 deal. On... More

Thank you for your review .I am so sorry that you felt it was really quiet, I totally understand this ,as I work in the business most of the time ,and it is quiet .I am sorry there was confusion in the menu ,as we were changing the full menu for the season on that day ,so we were running... More

Found via TripAdvisor euroute to Cornwall. Stopped for lunch and so glad we did. A delightful restaurant in deepest Devon with superb character and excellent food. If you don't go there you've missed an example of the best of English cooking. Well be back!

We stumbled across this Inn while driving through the high-hedged lanes of Devon, feeling hungry for lunch; and weren't we lucky! A small but very good menu, friendly, professional staff and good food. The beef cobbler, a huge portion topped with four, miniature savoury scones, came with more nicely roasted potatoes than we could eat and a separate dish of... More

We recently had our children christened in the church nearby. We would like to thank Ian and Tracey for a wonderful evening at The Cridford Inn. Everyone commented on the fantastic buffet. Many thanks for all your hard work and for making the day so special.

Fourteen of us arrived there yesterday afternoon to celebrate my son's 30th birthday. The table looked beautiful, the food was excellent and the service was amazing. Nothing was too much trouble for our waitress Mel (who had also decorated the table). The chef went the extra mile and provided me with different veg (as I'm a bit fussy), which I... More
