Palenque being a “one night stand” in touristic terms (people come here visit the site and go away the next day) you could fear worst than Chan Kah. Lets get the not-so-good things out of the way first: the rooms are pretty basic with little space to put your luggage, your clothes or anything else you might not want to... more

This was a very pleasant stay in a lovely hotel. Very peaceful with pleasant walks in the grounds. Huge free form swimming pool in three sections. Very handy for Palenque archaelogical site. Restaaurant very good with helpful staff and reasonable prices ( credit is due for not racking up prices when there are no other restaurants around - unlike Chichen... more

This is a wonderful hotel, made of little bungalows set in what I can only call a jungle garden (one to a room, basically, so you have no neighbours). Our room had a lobby, bathroom, two double beds and a veranda with a table and chairs (we didn't use it much because of the insects). The room was spotless and... more

We booked this place for the pool as it was seriously hot and humid in July when we were there. As previously mentioned not much English is spoken at reception but enough to get by. We were pleasantly surprised by our room (small detached cabin) which was at the back by a smaller swimming pool. It was nice and bright... more

We stayed at Chan-Kah at the beginning and end of our journey through Chiapas. The hotel is one of the nicest in the area, with very well kept rooms and outdoor spaces. The breakfast that comes included with the price of the rooms is exceptional. We did not eat our meals at the restaurant but instead in the town of... more

The pool is amazing, everything it seems in the photos and more., Huge and lovely - although slightly strangely hot water! I was travelling with my 10 year old son and we were recovering from the trip from Los Angeles so it was great just to hang out and lounge around the pool or stroll around the lovely tropical gardens... more

This resort looked beautiful: the rooms were clean, the gardens lush and the pool is fantastic. However I do a lot of travel and the bed was the worst I have experienced for a long time. I like a firm mattress but this was so hard I had great difficulty sleeping. We may just have had a bad room (only... more

We enjoyed our stay at Chan-Kah. Our room was wonderful, private and quiet. We enjoyed sitting on the veranda listening to the birds singing and watching the howler monkeys swinging in the trees. It was a perfect way to end a day after walking around the Palenque ruins. We were not impressed with our dinner of hamburgers and fries; however,... more

The ruins are hopefully what you've come for in Palenque since there isn't anything else. The Chan Kah is clearly not luxury but fine, and will work for any traveler group configuration that I imagine would make the attempt to come here. (Don't be under the illusion that you can do this part of your Mexico trip still inside the... more

We enjoyed our two nights in the Chan-Kah, which is beautifully integrated into the rainforest and a luxury hotel in context. Accommodation is in independent casitas which are simply but adequately equipped (shower only) - apart from the poor lighting which seems typical of the region - and close to colonies of howler monkeys who make their presence heard. There... more
