My wife and I had a really special time at this unique farm lodging belonging to Willy and his family. Good points: the accommodation was five-star, but the real star of the experience is the location of the place and background. You'll have to go and stay and talk with Willy to find out more, but it's all connected to... More

A Hidden jewel for adventuresome travelers who like a little comfort. Beautiful and originally constructed cabanas of local wood and stone on a working ranch among a clear running stream. Wonderfully friendly Rancher (Willy) and his son Ceasar who eat with you at night under the stars and will give private tours of the area. To get there take a... More

Wow! You'd be insane not to stay here if you're visiting the ruins near Palenque. The area and hotels near Palenque are a lot more commercialized and there are lots of crowds. Parador Vallescondido is nicely situated between Bonampak and Palenque and is gloriously far from the crowds. It's a working ranch in the jungle. Here are the other positive... More

Vallescondido is a little hidden gem between Palenque and Bonampak. We were really surprised about the quality of the houses and of the service. Very nice Mexican hospitality with lots of professionality added to it. The design of the interior of the houses ads a lot to the whole experience. One thing is a room is nice and clean, but... More

This is the perfect home base for visiting the Mayan ruins of Bonampak, Yaxchilan, Palenque and the Lacandon jungle; especially when the more touristy Palenque isn't really your thing. The working ranch with its 4 cabanas is right in the middle between Palenque and Bonampak (1h each direction, highway 307) and offers unexpected luxury for this part of the world.... More

I stayed there with my wife and three other couples. It was simply unforgettable. One of the best trios our lives, and we have been to many place in the five continents. From swimming in the river, riding to Piedras Negras on a fast boat and driving to Bonampak, Willy outworks himself to make sure you have an unbelievable time.... More

I've stayed here on two different occasions and have never had any complaints at all. Willy Fonseca has some really nice cabins and the food offered at his restaurant is delicious as well. I would recommend this lodge to anyone who travels to the area, and if you stay there, you'll never forget it. It's absolutely AMAZING!

This was a great homebase for seeing Palenque, Yaxchilan, and Bonampak. (Vallescondido is located about halfway between Palenque and Bonampak). The lodging is on a working ranch, and you can get breakfast and dinner served at the open-air restaurant. We even had them pack us box lunches for our sightseeing days. All the food was wonderful. We had 3 adults... More

Vallescondido is THE place to stay if you want to make an expedition to the Piedras Negras ruins on the Guatemala side of the Usumacinta River, as well as visiting Palenque, Bonampak and Yaxchilan in Chiapas, Mexico. Vallescondido is owned and run by "Senor Willy" Escondido and his son Cecil. It includes a delightful open-air restaurant, 5 cabanas and 3... More
