Vallescondido is THE place to stay if you want to make an expedition to the Piedras Negras ruins on the Guatemala side of the Usumacinta River, as well as visiting Palenque, Bonampak and Yaxchilan in Chiapas, Mexico. Vallescondido is owned and run by "Senor Willy" Escondido and his son Cecil. It includes a delightful open-air restaurant, 5 cabanas and 3 semi-detached new rooms that are very spacious and comfortable and can accommodate up to 4 people each. Senor Willy arranges all the details of your expedition to Piedras Negras and usually goes along himself to make sure everything goes well. He does an expert job, and does much to benefit the local community in the process. more
