This is an extraordinary place providing accommodation designed in style of the era of 1920-30's and amazing menu based on local ingredients. The owners are exceptionally welcoming and communicative (incl. in various languages). Bechyne offers beautiful views of the river valley and walks along the river, towns of Tabor or Pisek are within 30 mins reach.
What looked like creepy experience, after crossing narrow bridge to the town and walking in backstreet to find the Vila - turned out to be amazing experience of serenity and hedonism. The room in top floor overlooking the valley and monumental yet not disturbing bridge with balcony for late romantic dinners with partner was just wow. The main disadvantage - and that is being away from the centre - is its main advantage and you will know what I am talking about when you watch the stars and listen to the river. The room was generously large and cosy and clean. But what we enjoyed most was the adjacent cafe and its selection of food. The food was beyond excellent and the dining room with its stuff and decoration was reminding me the old movie 'Casablanca'. The place with its setting and friendly yet pretty down to earth owners had some old fashioned mystery where the time stopped and we enjoyed every hour there. If you look for full service hotel all inclusive you will be disappointed. However, if you look for place where you can be home and can appreciate good taste you will be satisfied. Overall: the stuff is friendly and they know what are they doing, very clean, superb accommodation for given price, not too pricey delicious food, amazing location, dog friendly, very good value for price. It was truly beautiful place to stay and we will be looking to come back.…
I stayed for two nights while on business nearby. Was with 2 colleagues. We all agreed that the accommodations, breakfast, and staff were excellent (although one found the bed too hard for him but that is just personal choice). The rooms are large by American standards and huge for Europe. My room (4) had a small balcony and overlooked the river. Although the weather was too cold to enjoy the balcony, it would be nice in pleasant weather. The owners were pleasant, helpful and very accommodating. When we asked for breakfast at 0645 because of early meetings, they immediately agreed. The selection was large and plentiful and they also offered snacks to go. There is no lift in the house, which was not a problem for me but just to be aware. It is not on the center square but is only a short (5-10 minute) walk away. I hope to return again to Vila Elektra.…
This is one of the cosiest places we have ever stayed at. The owners put such attention to every detail that they make the guests feel much more than at home. Everything there is top quality, from the beds and linen to the scrumptious and freshly cut fruit, cheese, egos, and cold meats for breakfast. They go out of their way to help with everything and are more than kind. We arrived in the night, after having had trouble at the place we intended to stay that night and contacted them. They welcomed us although it was very late and even went out to the lane to guide us. I cannot think of anything at Penzion Elektra that was less than perfect.
We visited because we liked the house and the location. Very disappointed by extremely unfriendly staff, apparently unable to manage the restaurant and lacking basic manners. There are definitely better places around. Our recommendation: avoid this place not to get disappointed!
Villa Elektra is a perfect place to stay if you need to relax. Very cosy, clean, nice enterier and exterier and the owners are very nice and friendly. Bechyne is a very charming little town surrounded by beautiful landscape.
This is the best! It is impossible to describe it by the words, you have to go there on your own! Absolutely wonderful stuff! Kind, helpful, personal approach. Great fresh food, lovely steaks and fish, soups. Everything was homemade! Excellent location, amazing view from room n. 5, very nice to work from its terrace!, next to the monastery garden, private parking. I totally love the style of first republic. AMAZING!
This is a great place. A wonderful house with great rooms, a beautiful view and a perfect service. Breakfast is solid with eggs if wanted. This is The place to stay in Bechyne. I will be back at Elektra whenever in Bechyne. I heard the kitchen is very good and I will try it next time.
This charming art-deco hotel/restaurant is not on Bechyně's main drag, so it's easy to miss. Several years ago participants in our summer music school started staying there. They love it and it is always full now during the two ten-day courses. My wife and I have eaten there often, though we've not stayed there yet as guests. It is easily the best restaurant in hundreds of kilometres! The host grills amazingly fresh tuna, salmon and/or (local) trout, and there are vast salads, pasta and other options for vegetarians. The owner, chef speaks Czech and Spanish, his wife has succeeded in learning English, and they now always have English-speaking staff serving. Extensive wine selection as well.
This place is amazing to stay, we had very good salads and cakes, just the waiter was unpleasant. He explained that you should eat our shripms by fingers (we asked for a fork). And after that he told us to leave because he needs the table for someone else. What a pitty, everything else was nice...
