I had mixed feelings towards our stay at the Lathkil, we liked the location and the scenery, the staff all friendly and nice. We were expecting a really quiet weekend but at times there was a thud of bass coming through the room, that lasted into the evening on the first night. It's small, only four rooms and the rooms... This place has great views it is over 20 years since we were last here and the view hasn't changed a bit !!! It does lack a bit of atmosphere but it is a great location for walking. We had a very good meal there and the staff were pleasant and accommodating. If you get chance go back into the... More

We visited on Saturday afternoon for a drink and meal after a walk with our dog. The best thing about the place is the view, everything else is disappointing. The bar area has no atmosphere and is rather depressing. No welcome from the barman. Food is served buffet-style in the main restaurant next door to the bar. I know we... More

This authentic and charming pub only has three guest rooms above the dining room and pub, so it feels like a secret discovery. Although it is only 15 minutes drive from the lovely village of Bakewell, home of the Bakewell tart, it feels like you are in the remote high country. We thoroughly enjoyed dinner, but breakfast is a real... More

This place enjoys a great location, it has a fabulous view over the head of of beautiful Lathkildale and is in a perfect position for a walker's lunch. I remember the place from years ago when there was a good food and a winter welcome from an open fire. I pains me to be negative about an independant country pub... More

The Lathkil is a characterful Free House with a small number of rooms (very small - four actually). It's only a short drive out of Bakewell but feels like you are in the wilds. Indeed few hotels could match the breakfast table view across the rolling Derbyshire Dales. My wife and I stayed for just one night meeting up with... More

We had a very comfortable stay at the Lathkil Hotel, welcomed by very friendly staff/owners. Our room 3 has been criticised elsewhere for being small ...OK it's not a massive suite, but we found it very cosy and comfortable with all the extras we needed, stocked fridge, tea/coffee/biscuits etc We were given the breakfast card to order our breakfast and... We have visited the Lathkil for lunches over about 10 years and have always enjoyed top class home-made food. We recently stayed the night and enjoyed a wonderful Dinner and breakfast and stayed in a lovely en-suite room that was extremely comfy and spotless.

I arrived with my partner end of October - very polite young man welcomed us and showed us the room (room 3). Once in the room we discovered that it was VERY small. Whilst it is a very small building, the owners seemed to have been quite tight with their spending; the sink was very narrow and small; when I... More

We've stayed here many times. All of the staff are friendly and helpful, and of course the view is amazing! A great place to come after a walk around the dale. Rooms are small but comfortable....it's an old place, so you wouldn't expect any different. Meals are generally good, but it would be nice to see some new items on... More
