The Lathkil is a characterful Free House with a small number of rooms (very small - four actually). It's only a short drive out of Bakewell but feels like you are in the wilds. Indeed few hotels could match the breakfast table view across the rolling Derbyshire Dales. My wife and I stayed for just one night meeting up with... More

We had a very comfortable stay at the Lathkil Hotel, welcomed by very friendly staff/owners. Our room 3 has been criticised elsewhere for being small ...OK it's not a massive suite, but we found it very cosy and comfortable with all the extras we needed, stocked fridge, tea/coffee/biscuits etc We were given the breakfast card to order our breakfast and... We have visited the Lathkil for lunches over about 10 years and have always enjoyed top class home-made food. We recently stayed the night and enjoyed a wonderful Dinner and breakfast and stayed in a lovely en-suite room that was extremely comfy and spotless.

I arrived with my partner end of October - very polite young man welcomed us and showed us the room (room 3). Once in the room we discovered that it was VERY small. Whilst it is a very small building, the owners seemed to have been quite tight with their spending; the sink was very narrow and small; when I... More

We've stayed here many times. All of the staff are friendly and helpful, and of course the view is amazing! A great place to come after a walk around the dale. Rooms are small but comfortable....it's an old place, so you wouldn't expect any different. Meals are generally good, but it would be nice to see some new items on... More

Stayed here for 2 nights last month and am still dreaming about the scenery! Couldn't have been happier with our experience here. Staff were super helpful, giving us directions to local sights when our GPS failed us. Our front-facing room was a little small but still very comfortable and gave us an amazing view of the surrounding fields. Loved sitting... More

My wife and I visited this area last year and wanted to return, using a better hotel. This more than filled the bill. The view is fabulous, the staff friendly and helpful, the food was very good and my only grumble would be that our "queen size" bed was two singles pushed together, which rather cramped us. I recommend this... More

The staff at this hotel were just incredible - they went out of their way to look after us and always offered advice about local attractions. The dinner menu was great, and very reasonably priced. Lunch is a quirky buffet style with lots of choice. Would definitely come back to this hotel again - no complaints!

My partner our dog and I recently had the misfortune to include a visit to this venue on a days walking trip, before entering the premises we were made unwelcome by the signs saying 'NO BOOTS' in an area where a large % of your potential customers are walkers how arrogant, it gets worse upon entering. I sat on the... More

This is an excellent base to explore Derbyshire. The restaurant has a commanding view over Lathkil Dale and the surrounding countryside. The rooms are on the small side but are very well appointed. The beds are very comfortable. The food is reasonably priced and well cooked, especially breakfast. The stair carpet looks worn and gives an unwarranted poor first impression.
