I've eaten at The Rising Sun before and been relatively pleased but the service I had on Sunday convinced me never to visit again. I phoned in advance to make a booking for a party of 6, I was told that wasn't required and to just turn up. So that's exactly what we did. On arrival we were shown to... More

I'm a bit biased because I used to live in this area many years ago. The pub is across the road from the canal which you can walk or cycle for miles. The accommodation is clean and simple and the pub downstairs is good with friendly owners. Breakfasts were good, nice and fresh and generous portions. If you need to... More

We have been going to the Rising Sun as a family for many years and we have in fact booked many group parties for family occasions. My eldest son is rather fussy so he normally just has chips, so it was a real surprise to find out tonight that this was refused and unless he had something off the £8.25... More

Recently visited the Rising Sun for the first time in years for food with a large group of friends. Everything was great up until we had to pay for our meals. As a group we had spent well over £150 on various meals and drinks for all and were splitting the bill. Due to certain members of our group paying... More

We went here on the spur of the moment. It's a nice traditional style pub with a warm atmosphere. We were seated immediately by a friendly waitress. The menu seemed nice if a touch overpriced. We ordered straight away with ease the only weird thing was you have to go up to the bar and get your drinks yourself...I don't... More

We were pleasantly surprised with this friendly Pub, the owners made us very welcome, and we found the staff / even the cleaners very friendly and easy to talk to, this is a great asset to a family business. We stayed 4 nights D B B and the food was better than expected, every thing was quite hot, and plenty... More

Absolutely horrific. From the decor, to the 'complimentary' hairs in the dessert fridge. Owners are very rude and judgemental. The food was clearly microwaved, as a chef. I KNOW these things. Food was rubbery and tough, this fish was especially rubbery. I think this place should be boarded up instead of being allowed to continue whatever it is they do.

previously written a review of the Rising Sun where we found it a less than adequate experience, we have recently returned for lunch twice. In the spirit of fairness and providing integrity to Tripadvisor reviews, we have had two really nice meals. On the first occasion we had the steak pie which was very nice. On the second occasion we... More

Went to rising sun for a special occasion meal, we have been a few times before and had a reasonable pub meal in a reasonable local pub. When we first arrived the bar staff were welcoming and showed us to our table. We waited for 20 mins and no one arrived, we were about to call over a waitress when... More

I took a long walk along the canal on a very hot day and stopped for a pint and a very friendly waitress brought some water for my dog. Can't say much more because I just sat outside but I thought she was worth a mention.
