We called for a late lunch and found a good typical pub grub menu and a good array of cask ales. My lasagne was overcooked, but hubbies steak pie was just right. Huge portions - too much to eat really, and very friendly staff. Definitely a place to return to.

Our room was large, clean, warm & quiet (being a pub some people might worry about the noise - do not). We had a view onto the Churnet Valley Railway - which (in addition to being a very nice structure) was minutes walk away. This being very handy as we were going to its Halloween event. If you are going... More

We arrived early evening, staff not particularly welcoming. Shown to our room eventually (family room) which was very basic. The bathroom rubbish bin had someone's dirty nappy in it. The bunk beds squeaked so bad it woke everyone up any time someone moved an inch. The double bed had a plastic sheet on it which I found very uncomfortable and... More

Situated in a lovely setting, this Inn is well worth a visit whether you want accommodation or just food. Staff were professional, friendly and very welcoming. Accommodation is extremely clean, spacious and very comfortable. Food is outstanding (warning even their small plates are large). The bar is well stocked and more importantly well maintained. I can not recommend the Railway... More

All the staff are polite and attentive and the food is spot on. Bring your appetite with you, they fill the plates and it's all good! We all had different dishes; lasagne, pie, sausages and salmon and we all really enjoyed trying each other's as well. Reasonably priced fantastic food.

This place was recommended by someone we met on the canal and i must say it lived up to their rave. My steak was beautifully cooked and full of flavour. The chips were excellent, even had crispy bits on them best i've had for yonks . The missus had the Sunday dinner , when she asked if it was possible... More
