Having been an on/off resident in the area for many years I have known the Lord Lyon through many different landlords / owners and its many different guises. As a location it is always convenient and welcoming but currently the food is nothing to shout about. A standard choice of burgers, fish and chips etc which is fine but nothing... More

I used to know the Lord Lyon quite well when working in Newbury some 15 years ago. The food was excellent - then. So I thought it would be a good place to have lunch today when my wife and myself were passing by. Bad mistake. In fact we never got lunch at all. I should have realised something was... More

Hotel was under new management and restaurant was not yet available, meaning no breakfast! A very nice period hotel very close to Lambourn Village and racehorse training. Check back when management has gotten their act together.

I ordered a drink and had plenty of choice where to sit (8pm Saturday night) but struggled to find anywhere that didn't smell like a tap room.... More

we booked the bed and breakfast while we visited another hotel to discuss our upcoming wedding and used this as a base with the hope that our wedding guests will also stay here next year. All I can say is STAY AWAY! The young Irish Man behind the Bar was the rudest individual I have ever encountered his language as... More

In recent weeks the Lord Lyon has been taken over by a new team. We have now visited twice and on both occasions have been really impressed. On our first visit we stopped by for an impromptu drink and were greeted with a warm friendly welcome from the new clan behind the bar. We booked dinner for a family gathering... More

The room had a collection of odd old furniture. The wardrobe was an old coat hook to the wall. The drawer below the mirror had the knobs missing... More
