5 of 5 stars Reviewed yesterday NEW

Driving up the track to Fauhope one wonders what awaits around the bend... it was a hillside woodland garden covered in pink and purple and was quite magical (we visited at the end of May). Checking in with our host Sheila resulted in tea (or coffee) and cake in the front garden, another wonderful place, overlooking the Eildon Hills, and... More

Everything about my stay was perfect. Sheila is incredibly welcoming and I felt as though I had known her for years. The house and gardens are beautifully presented and the view is one that you could enjoy for hours. The bedroom was large, bright, spotlessly clean and the attention to detail was second to none. The enormous bed provided 2... More

This beautiful, rambling Edwardian Country house is luxuriously comfortable, with large bedrooms and bathrooms. The living room has warm fires and deep sofas and the views over the beautiful garden extend toward the Tweed Valley. Our host, Sheila, has created a gracious home filled with interesting art and furniture. She made us tea on arrival in a silver tea service... More

We have stayed at Fauhope many times - always during the Melrose 7s tournament. First time was by chance but each subsequent stay was by choice! Sheila and Iain are superb hosts and always make our whole family welcome. Although we go for the rugby, Melrose is a very beautiful town with loads to see and a great selection of... More

Visited again 29th November, Sheila and staff had put up the christmas trees which only enhanced the beautiful house even more. We had a lovely warm from welcome from Sheila and Ian and were treated to wine and snacks as we arrived later than usual. We stayed in a different room this time, the one with the roll top bath... Fauhope House is situated in Gattonside across the river from Melrose. However you can drive down to the bridge from where it is a pleasant walk into town and if you are lucky interesting bird life can be seen from the bridge. We had a large beautifully furnished room with a very comfortable bed. The sitting room has comfortable chairs... More

Fauhope is a beautiful house up slope of the small towns right on the river. The room was very comfortable. Given the number of 5 star reviews, I'm hopeful that the problems we encountered were flukes or equipment failures. We (and other guests) found the hot water to be very limited in the morning. There was no way they could... More

Spent two nights at Fauhope and wish it could have been longer! From Sheila's welcome and tea and goodies on the terrace in the sunshine to her tips of where to stop off on our journey home (we went to Dawyck Botanic Gardens and it was marvellous!), we were made to feel like friends rather than paying guests! House and... More

Stayed for one night - wish it could have been more. We were welcomed from the moment we arrived as honoured guests. The house and setting is beautiful, the bedroom luxurious with an extremely comfortable bed. Breakfast delicious. There is nothing ordinary about Fauhope House from the wonderful hospitality to the stunning decor and idyllic surroundings.

We were treated like house guests here, with a lovely friendly welcome and much lively discussion over breakfast about the independence vote that took place during our visit. Don't be daunted by the slightly rough track on the approach, it's well worth it. The house is lovely, and the gardens quite splendid. Very comfy bed and we will return when... More
