The location of this Inn is fantastic but the welcome, staff and food are all excellent. We arrived on a sunny evening and after a lovely welcome we were soon enjoying a drink outside watching the sun slowly descend into the sea. The evening meal was hot and delicious (would recommend the sea food) as was the plentiful breakfast. Highly... More

We were so impressed with everything about this gem of a place in an amazing setting that we returned several times during our stay on Skye. The staff, food and beers were wonderful. A visit not to be missed for anyone visiting Skye.

After reading all the previous reviews we were slightly nervous about staying here. We arrived 2 hours before the time stated for check in and was expecting a frosty welcome. We could not have been more wrong. We were greeted with a smile and it was no problem checking in early. We were showed straight to our room and everything... More

Everywhere we have visited in Scotland has been really welcoming.....apart from the Stein Inn. The location is fabulous but as per previous reviewers, we found the service poor. Barman barely looked up when we were stood waiting to be served, and when we sat at the bar we were told we couldn't move the stools closer together! Definitely not recommended... More

We had spent they afternoon walking to Coral beach and felt like a pint on the way home to Uig. The Stein Inn seemed like the most idyllic location, right on the shorefront, lots of parking and basking in the afternoon sun. We were between servings so couldn't try the food, thank goodness. The ales were served, the peanuts retrieved,... More

Been here before on a few occasions over the years.I like to give places the benefit of the doubt, but the Stein goes from bad to worse. The only "Positive" is the building and its position which is stunning. This is clearly what the owners rely on,and see fit that you should feel honoured that they allow you on their premises. The... More

I'm afraid that these-days your visit to Stein may well be for the location rather than anything else. It's a really beautiful, remote, loch-side location. One of the few places open year round; our recent Easter visit was to a pretty crowded bar but that could have added to the atmosphere. One dining room was fairly quiet and we were... More

Having a drink at the Stein Inn , the "oldest inn on Skye" is great! Wonderful traditional and yet stylish interior , well kept with a fantastic range if drinks to choose from! Perfect place for settling down after a busy day before going to dinner ! Great view !

When we arrived at the Stein Inn the barman seemed as though we were inconveniencing him. "You order meals at your table but drinks at the bar". I went the bar to order drinks a couple of minutes after we arrived, gave the barman our table number and then had a tense moment where he said that there was nothing... More

On arrival this would appear to be a lovely pub to relax and have a few beers and a bite to eat. This was our plan but when my wife pulled up a bar stool to join me at the bar for our first drink she was told the stools had to remain 5 feet apart at the bar in... More
