We stumbled upon this quaint pub on our driving tour of Skye. We were told that it is the oldest pub on Skye. It's on the Main Street of a small harbour village - good views and scenery. We had and enjoyable lunch, with soup and ploughman lunch plates. The experience was great; service was self-serve at the bar by... More

My wife and myself thought we would go in to see what light lunches they had. It was rainy and windy too. We were so amazed by the crab sandwich we ordered. It has to rank as the best crab sandwich we have ever had. Other customers had good looking food as well. There were certainly no complaints. I must... More

Historic country inn on the Waternish Peninsula. Stunning loch-side setting. Plenty of parking space available. Stayed for three nights - no problems with noise from the pub. Clean, tidy, cosy room with a view over the water. Rooms are small, by american standards, but Dorothy, your definitely not in Kansas anymore...!!!! Ate in the bar every night...no complaints about the... More

We decided on a day trip from Inverness with the treat of lunch at Stein Inn, having been there before and enjoyed it. Image after the 3 hour drive to find a menu that could have been in any boring pub or cafe anywhere in the UK. Everything on it was the stuff to make a heart sink. The 'specials'... More

We stayed for three nights, hoping for peace and tranquillity and some good beer. We got all of those but also lots of customers as the weather was wonderful, an American film crew and discussions about the independence vote! The location is gorgeous, and with good weather so are the sunsets. We had a great room overlooking the loch, not... More

We arrived on 15th Sept. by yacht from Portree. The Inn has its own mooring but as we were a 43 footer we decided pay for one to the right of the jetty which was empty of other boats. It was easy to get from the yacht to the jetty and the Inn was minutes away. I wouldn't say that... More

Stayed here for 3 nights. Cannot fault the room, the location, the staff and the particularly yummy breakfast, especially proper bread. Very good value for money too. I left my jacket there and it was sent to my house immediately. Will definitely be back.

The oldest Inn on Skye, once owned by pop singer Donovan, it has ensuite rooms, some of which are quite spacious! Singles are small. Kippers( plural!) for breakfast!!! Set by the sea with ample parking and great location for exploring Vatersay peninsula. Almost next door is an excellent Michelin starred fish/seafood restaurant. A good choice when exploring Skye.

Have been visiting this pub for many years on our visits to Skye. It has always been a favourite. However we came to eat on Tuesday, 9th September. What has gone wrong!? The menu now offers your veg etc as an additional extra, even peas. I ordered scampi for just short of £12. Very disappointed with the meal. The plate... More

rugged inner hebrides setting with hearty fare. was a hurricane when we visited suited us just fine at the stein. stein inn was our base camp for exploration of a wonderful corner of scotland. waternish has the darkest nights in the U.K> so clear nights must be glorious(we had none)
