The oldest Inn on Skye, once owned by pop singer Donovan, it has ensuite rooms, some of which are quite spacious! Singles are small. Kippers( plural!) for breakfast!!! Set by the sea with ample parking and great location for exploring Vatersay peninsula. Almost next door is an excellent Michelin starred fish/seafood restaurant. A good choice when exploring Skye.

Have been visiting this pub for many years on our visits to Skye. It has always been a favourite. However we came to eat on Tuesday, 9th September. What has gone wrong!? The menu now offers your veg etc as an additional extra, even peas. I ordered scampi for just short of £12. Very disappointed with the meal. The plate... More

We did not stay at the Stein Inn, but it was recommended by our host's from Hillstone Lodge where we were staying. The inn serves locally caught fish& crab from the loch and has a quite nice location. The accommodation side of the business was brisk. We ate there for 3 nights running and enjoyed every meal.It is an old... More

We stayed at this lovely Pub/B&B on Sunday 24th August. From the moment we entered the pub to when we left we could not fault the warm welcome. The view from the room was lovely over the loch, a shame we only booked one night. We will be back.

I think some of the reviews on here are slightly harsh. Yes the decor is dated, and there are dog hairs, but it's a pub that is most welcoming for all. The choice of whiskies was mind blowing, there were toys to keep my little girl occupied, well behaved dogs that came over for a cuddle thoroughly delighted my daughter,... More

This just has to be one of the best pub locations anywhere. Arrived mid afternoon in glorious sunshine. Pot of tea overlooking the loch followed by pre dinner drinks a little later. Warm and cosy atmosphere with real ale and whiskies galore. Excellent breakfast (we had dinner at the Loch Bay seafood restaurant next door) and nice friendly staff and... More

We came here especially for dinner and were very disappointed with both service and food. We waited 45 min. For the main course and when it came (lamb stew) 1/4 of the plate was potatos, 1/2 was chips (so basically more potatos) and only 1/4 was lamb. I was very disappointed and waited for the waitress to come and ask... More

The steak was overdone, chips were burnt, pepper sauce had no taste, mushrooms were non existent. I'm sure it's a good pub if you want to drink in though. It was also in a very beautiful location which was great.

We stayed here for 2 nights in June. The rooms are pretty dire- absolutely tiny, extremely dated and not especially clean. In desperate need of a revamp. The staircase up to the first floor is a disgrace- filthy, covered in dog hair and smelling of wet dog. Unpleasant. Considering the prices they charge this is just not acceptable. And yet,... More
