We came here especially for dinner and were very disappointed with both service and food. We waited 45 min. For the main course and when it came (lamb stew) 1/4 of the plate was potatos, 1/2 was chips (so basically more potatos) and only 1/4 was lamb. I was very disappointed and waited for the waitress to come and ask... More

The steak was overdone, chips were burnt, pepper sauce had no taste, mushrooms were non existent. I'm sure it's a good pub if you want to drink in though. It was also in a very beautiful location which was great.

We stayed here for 2 nights in June. The rooms are pretty dire- absolutely tiny, extremely dated and not especially clean. In desperate need of a revamp. The staircase up to the first floor is a disgrace- filthy, covered in dog hair and smelling of wet dog. Unpleasant. Considering the prices they charge this is just not acceptable. And yet,... More

Great food and lovely old pub with lots of memorabilia and were even dog friendly. Staff lovely and were very accommodating of our dog, brought out a bowl of water and made a fuss of our dog. The food was great not over priced! So glad we stopped off at this lovely pub! Would defiantly recommend it to anyone!

The setting is great, but the staff really do let down this place. They could not be grumpier if they tried. The food is ok and while I don't expect singing and dancing from the staff, a smile would be nice. The owners aren't much better! We go here because it is in such a lovely setting, but each time... My next visit to the Isle of Skye will definitely include this Inn, however, I don't think I'd stay there again. I had to stoop down in the shower, to get through doors and the bed was even too short! But the food - WOW - absolutely the very best I have ever tasted (and that's saying a lot coming... More

Having looked forward to visiting the Stein Inn and full of high expectation we left feeling disappointed at the poor quality of food and mediocre service. Food was generally below average "pub grub" and over priced! Scampi was previously frozen as were the chips accompanied by a very sad salad garnish. Stuffed peppers were tasty but inadequate in portion size... More

Myself and my wife have stayed at this place four times since 2004. The reason we constantly take the 10-hour trek from Derby (getting a plane to Turkey would be quicker!) is because it's such a great place. A lovely inn with cosy fire, great views, nice rooms and lovely food. And drink, of course! One of the things I... More

We live on Skye and have eaten here twice now recently and both times found the staff here the most unwelcoming people on the island! It's like walking into the pub on American werewolf in London! The bar staff never crack a smile and are hard pushed to even speak (except to each other) This pubs one saving grace is... More

visited stein inn last week beautiful place ,but shame about the barmaid's service ,as an avid malt whiskey drinker I asked the barmaid which whiskey she would recommend ,her answer was (well there is 130 brands on the shelves) I thought she might have advised me on the most popular one or given some advice ,but not even a smile,...
