Been here before on a few occasions over the years.I like to give places the benefit of the doubt, but the Stein goes from bad to worse. The only "Positive" is the building and its position which is stunning. This is clearly what the owners rely on,and see fit that you should feel honoured that they allow you on their premises. The... More

I'm afraid that these-days your visit to Stein may well be for the location rather than anything else. It's a really beautiful, remote, loch-side location. One of the few places open year round; our recent Easter visit was to a pretty crowded bar but that could have added to the atmosphere. One dining room was fairly quiet and we were... More

Having a drink at the Stein Inn , the "oldest inn on Skye" is great! Wonderful traditional and yet stylish interior , well kept with a fantastic range if drinks to choose from! Perfect place for settling down after a busy day before going to dinner ! Great view !

When we arrived at the Stein Inn the barman seemed as though we were inconveniencing him. "You order meals at your table but drinks at the bar". I went the bar to order drinks a couple of minutes after we arrived, gave the barman our table number and then had a tense moment where he said that there was nothing... More

On arrival this would appear to be a lovely pub to relax and have a few beers and a bite to eat. This was our plan but when my wife pulled up a bar stool to join me at the bar for our first drink she was told the stools had to remain 5 feet apart at the bar in... More

From the minute we walked in the door, we had a feeling that we had made a mistake. It had just gone past noon, their opening time, and the staff member was in her jacket getting things set up. When I asked if we could sit in for a meal - I asked because I genuinely didn't feel welcome given... More

I cannot and would not want to say a bad thing about the location, building or rooms offered in this place. They are as advertised and any warnings about noise etc are given upfront. Sadly, we visited in Feb and our reception seemed to be based around the philosophy, "where else are you going to go?". The gentleman behind the... More

Our stay started reasonably enough. We turned up and were shown to our 'sea view' room. The tiny window was so low that you had to squat on thefloor to see out. The room was freezing and the radiator didn't work, (this was February). We decided to settle by the fire and read until dinner was served. No good ales... More

We'd been meaning to visit the Stein Inn on numerous occasions over the years, & finally made the trip this time around. It really is in a stunning part of the Island. They serve a host of local & named beers, also a great variety of Whiskey too. 90% of the pub area is restaurant, & (rightly so) they don't... More

I first visited this pub 35 years ago, when it was a lot smaller. Yes it has changed, but it is still a very friendly place. The food is very good and locally sourced where possible. They serve good local beers.
