Authentic inn in the most picturesque setting. Be aware that the road in is single track. Breathtaking views and good food. The bar was well stocked with a good range of malt whiskers. Good food, rustic setting, friendly staff.

Appeared cosy and welcoming but, after the barmaid (possible owner) came in from having a smoke, the welcoming fell away. Our lunch order was taken in a grumpy, unfriendly manner, whilst she coughed and ate behind the bar. Our greatly overpriced lunch (considering how ordinary it was) was delivered by the barman or cook, who at least had a smile... More

Tipped off about ths place by a local. Exciting journey to get there I'm a camper van. But well worth it- food, beer, and views to die for. Crab sandwiches superb. Service excellent. Good local arts gallery to visit next door. All highly recommended.

We also stumbled on this hostelry by chance. I popped my head in the door to enquire whether they let Dogs inside the Bar. The blonde barmaid was sitting on the window seat with her feet up reading a book. She barely mumbled they did allow dogs in as if I were some kind of buffoon for asking! We had... More

We were staying in a B&B about 15 minutes away and our hostess recommended the place. It was a chilly and misty evening when we arrived. Ordered our beer at the bar and sat down. Menus arrived quickly and we ordered. I got the rainbow trout and my wife got the soup. The food arrived quickly and it was delicious.... More

The owners clearly have no sense of pride or shame in relation to hospitality and clearly are indifferent to complaints The battered fish portion is the smallest ever presented to me in any restaurant or chip shop for that matter, the fillet was halved down the middle also served overcooked in fryer, sent back and mentioned to waitress and abruptly... Well after reading the glossy leaflet saying how wonderful the place was we decided to give it a visit. Quite a long drive to it. Beautiful area and the pub from outside looked very inviting. That,s when the negative comments start unfortunately lady sat in the window reading a book, do you want food or drink she said, just a... More

Was a well priced B&B, breakfast was good the evening meal was ok but nothing more exciting than pub grub! Our room was over the bar - luckily we enjoy a good socialising as the walls are paper thin, if we had stayed longer than two nights and not mid week nights out of season I imagine the noise would... Beautiful location, value for money food, excellent beers, strangely abrupt service on the part of some of the staff but not all. With a bit more customer focus this place could be a gold mine. At the moment it's certainly worth a visit.

The tiny village of Stein is an absolute gem. Unfortunately the Stein Inn, whilst outwardly attractive, is a very disappointing experience; in our mind the worst on Skye. We fully endorse the opinions of Adam F who describes the naked difference in the way that locals and tourists are treated. And yes, it is both hostile and downright rude. Unfortunately... More
