Treebones is an absolutely wonderful, gorgeous and special place that delivers a truly unique lodging experience. My husband booked this place as part of a surprise birthday trip down the central California coast and we loved it! Having stayed in a yurt before we had an idea of what to expect. A couple notes to set your expectations: The yurts... More

Treebones resort was our second accommodation stop along our drive of Pacific Coast Highway 1 from San Francisco to San Diego. First of all the drive from San Francisco was dramatically impressive. We'd of got to Treebones earlier if it wasn't for all the stopping we had to do to take numerous photos of the breathtaking scenery. Treebones is located... More

I can understand the other reviewers frustration with a family but they advertise this resort as more of a couples retreat - plus you wont find anything really "reasonable" in Big Sur for a family. We actually went camping there. I know that the last reviewer did not like sharing a restroom with the campers but the campers do pay... More

You cannot deny that the views and other natural attributes at Treebones are fantastic but for the price, it is not a good value, for a family anyway. The pluses: the Yurt was clean and very comfortable and we did have a view from our deck. The pool and shot tub were nice if small. The disappointments: We had our... More

Checking in was quick and easy. Within 5 minutes we had our key and proceeded to the guest house. We opted for the guest house because my wife didn't want to have to hike around outside in the middle of the night over to the restrooms. The guest house nice, however it was smaller than I envisioned. Basically, the building... More

We stayed at Treebones in July for one night as part of a Honeymoon road trip through California. Having stayed at a number of flash hotels like the Stanford Court SF, Omni LA and Ahwahnee in Yosemite - I would say that without doubt our Treebones stay was the best of all. Nestled in the hillside in a very foggy... More

From the moment you walk onto the deck and look out out over the ocean, you know you are in for a special stay. The Yurts are cosy to spacious, spotless, with wonderful mattresses, chairs, futons and one even has its own ping pong table. The staff is friendly, the food is good...it was hard to leave!!!

Living in Southern California with family in the Bay Area we find ourselves driving long distances around Christmas time to visit relatives. We decided to detour from our normal direct route and take a side trip through Big Sur. Although naturally beautiful, Big Sur has been touristed to death with overpriced and poor value food and accommodations at every turn.... More

I actually didn't stay, but made a reservation which I later had to cancel. I gave them 5 months notice of the cancellation and was charged $35 fee. The website implies that there is a 7 day notice required but upon re-reading it I see the "and" a $35 fee. This feels like someone just stole $35 dollars from me,... More

My husband and I stayed here for two nights at the end of May. I can't say enough positive things about the place. The yurt was wonderful, comfortable, and provided the deepest sleep I've had in a long time. The bathroom facilities were a short walk away and were clean. Neither of us minded the walk and having the restrooms... More
