These cabins were built in 1937 and rustic. They are in a remote location so they deserve to be priced higher. If you elect to stay there these facts are a given. However, do not be duped into paying more for Room 10, the "Honeymoon" suite. We paid $300 for a night in Cabin 10. What a mistake! If your... More

We booked this hotel with a little concern as the write ups were very mixed. There is no need for any concern at all as it is an amaxing expereince that we shall cherish forever! We booked Lodge 10 (Honeymoon room) it ios right on the edge of the cliff with views to die for .The room was good, bed comfortable... More

I'm not sure what some of these other reviewers are saying about the cleanliness of the place, or lack thereof, we found it to be just fine. Then again, maybe the place took note of the past reviews and made improvements. We went up just for the night for my boyfriends birthday. We stayed in Cabin 8. It was decently... More

Even after reading the mixed reviews on this place we decided to give it a try. The setting looked beautiful and we figured "how bad could it be?" I even mentioned the negative reviews to the woman who took my reservation telling her I owned/ran my own B&B and that cleanliness was important to me. She said she was aware... More

If you're going through the reviews here, you'll notice the two basic themes: Great views vs. dingy rooms and marginal food/service. They're both true. So you just have to decide which you want more. In spite of comments here, you're not going to find the the same views and outstanding natural setting anywhere else along Highway 1. This was our... More

So Big Sur area has literally, maybe like 10 hotels in 30 mile radius. So if you need to stay somewhere, you pick one and settle. Everyone talks about the views at this hotel, but really, the cabins face south, not west, so therefore you're sort of looking at water, but from every single cabin, you also get a good... More

Stayed in cabin 10, worth the extra money. Cozy, nice gas fireplace, comfy bed. Beautiful views! Give yourself plenty of time to get there and arrive early enough to watch the sun set. Hike up the little trail behind the cabins. Check in staff was friendly. Wait staff in restaurant was nice. We brought our own wine and they said... More

I loveeeeed the views, I stayed in cabin 9 (right on the edge), the room was big, had a little living room area with a fire place. You could view the ocean from two windows, the one next to your bed or the one next to the leather couch. Furniture is very basic, no tv, which I loved b/c my... More

Pros : Location location and location, serenity, isolation, away from all the hustle and bustle, no cell phone/internet/tv, the 1930s beautiful rooms. Cons: somewhat expensive, only their restaurant is the source of food, experience very different if staying in the less expensive cabins [which are actually just rooms].

I totally agree with those who say that Lucia Lodge is totally overpriced, rip-off, beyond basic and - although our cabin appeared to be clean - it's difficult to know what was lurking under the bed or indeed in it. My husband's fork at dinner was dirty, he sent it back but i don't think it saw any washing action... More
