The Glen Oaks Motel was the perfect escape from our busy schedules. The room was elegantly rustic, beautiful, very comfortable, and provided a quiet retreat. We hiked in the morning through the redwood forest and along the Big Sur River, we relaxed on our room’s private courtyard in the afternoon, and then we spent time at night sitting by the... More

We stayed in the Big Sur cabin (really a guest house), complete with small kitchen and plenty of room to spread out. The porch overlooks the stream, and the redwoods tower overhead. The space is beautifully decorated with a nice mix of old school Big Sur with modern amenities and chic touches. Very romantic!

We have traveled the world, extensively, and have found that no place seems to suit us better than this gem on the Central Coast in Big Sur, just south of Carmel, California. The drive south on Highway One is one of the most scenic coastal views in the world. Upon arriving at Glen Oaks Motel you are warmly greeted by... More

I was surprised to read some reviewers when they said that this was good value for money. We paid $200 per night compared with $225 at Beverly Hills Hilton, a five star hotel! This motel is stylish, different and comfortable but not what it should have been for the money. The motel is nestled in the redwood forest and each... More

We arrived in the early evening and were 'greeted' by a none-too-friendly gentleman. We got our keys and I found that the room I'd paid so much for was just next to the office but very cute - with a careful, nice remodel. The only issues outside of the above were that the walls are very thin and we were... More

After 4 days on the road driving down the PCH, this was exactly the type of halfway break we were looking for. Previous reviewers were correct that the reception is a little frosty (don't expect an early check-in!), but it is only frosty for the US and would be perfectly acceptable in Europe. We stayed in Cabin 7 across the... More

Good location, but still has a motel feel when you check in. The rooms are nicely renovated with contemporary styling (especially compared to some of the other motels on offer in this price range). Ours was a standard room and small, with no particular features to get excited about, I'm assuming the larger cabins had more to them. The staff... More

I researched every lodging option in Big Sur in a ton of detail and decided on Glen Oaks based on the TripAdvisor recommendation. We were not disappointed one bit. Very clean, updated rooms. Perfect location for day hikes in the Big Sur. Would definitely stay again. We had a private patio which was great, room #12.

Glen Oaks is in a fantastic location, the rooms are really really cool, and there's a nice little restaurant diner next door that serves a great breakfast. My only criticism of the place is the welcome we received when we arrived was pretty unpleasant - easily the most grumpy person we met in the whole of our long tour of... More

I stayed at the Glen Oaks for one night with my husband. They did a great job with the renovation of this place. I loved the heated floors in the bathroom. It is a little bit pricey ($250/night) but it really is a wonderful place to stay. Like the other reviewers mentioned though, the walls are very thin. Good happy... More
