We stayed in one of the duplex cabins next to the river. It is small, so if you are looking for something spacious, it's not for you, but we loved it. Supposedly the rooms on the 1 are larger, but no fire pit/fridge, and you are on the main road, so it's a trade off. The bathroom has an awesome... more

We booked a duplex cabin close to the river. The cabins are tiny - really one small room. Top marks for the bathroom and the excellent heated tile floor, and we loved the fire pit that was all set and ready to light. Unfortunately, our little bit of quiet and solitude was ruined by the tree surgeons running chain saws... more

As is with nearly many things in Big Sur, the price of a room at Glen Oaks is a bit steep. However, the room was very nice and the outdoor surroundings were very peaceful. We stayed in a duplex cabin, which was small but clean and cozy. Noise from the street isn't an issue if you stay in one of... more

We returned yet again to The Cottage at Glen Oaks. Why wouldn't we? The place is nice, the location is wonderful, the people -- from the manager and his wife to the housekeeping staff -- are pleasant and friendly. The wild turkeys pecking in the yard might be a bit tough at Thanksgiving, but the deer looking in the bedroom... more

What a wonderful place! We had a beautiful contemporary room with gas fireplace, which is the heat source for the room, and bathroom with heated floor. Right outside our door was our own little patio where you could have your coffee and read your paper, surrounded by trees. We couldn't ask for anything more. It was heavenly. more

stayed right after the "typhoon" that was previously mentioned and it was really hot so be aware if you stay during the summer months. we stayed in the "cottage" and was not super impressed with the outside. the deck that i was looking forward to had two very dirty chairs and no table, we had to bring a side table... more

We stayed here for 2 nights on an 11 day trip around California. Firstly we arrived during the tail end of a typhoon so on the drive down Highway 1 you could not see 10 meters in front of you and the rain was blowing in sideways from the ocean so not a very pleasant drive to begin with. We... more

When we drove into Glen Oaks, we were a little worried - it looked at first glances like a wooden hut on the side of the freeway. We were soon directed to the actual location of our accomodation - a magical wooden hut in the middle of the forest with a river gushing along in the background. it was a... more

We stayed in Big Sur for 3 nights with another couple who stayed at the Ripplewood cabins across the street. Both places are nestled in wooded areas within walking distance to some eating establishments and small grocery stores. Glen Oaks has a modern look to the interior. Our room had a gas fireplace insert between the bedroom and a private... more

My husband and I drove down the coast from San Francisco. We had just left a 5 star hotel and we loved it, but nothing could prepare us for Glen Oaks. We checked in after watching the sunset. The lady at the desk was so kind and welcoming. I could tell already this was going to be a great stay.... more
