I was in Big Sur in March of 2013. We had an absolutely amazing time while we were there. We stayed for 2 nights. The rooms were very clean and updated. And the patio off the back of our cabin was awesome. We had a campfire every night and had lunch down by the river. I really can't think of... More

Unfortunately we only had one night here, we loved this upscale road side motel! As others have mentioned, yes it's close to highway 1, but that wasn't a problem for us and we are fairly sensitive to noise. I had read the history of the property in advance so I was fully prepared for the close proximity, it is an... More

Seeking some quiet time following our daughter's wedding and two days of wine tasting, we booked the two Redwood Grove cottages - River View and Forest View - with our son in law's parents from England. The two cottages are attached with an adjoining interior door which was perfect as it made one large unit for the four of us,... More

The 1st thing we noticed when we entered our Sycamore cabin was the silence, you feel like you have escaped from the hustle and bustle of the outside world. The cabin was clean and the private fire pit was an added bonus. There are all the necessary amenities in the cabin, such as fridge, microwave, coffee machine, even a choice... More

We stayed at Glen Oaks for one night on a weekday in early May. The staff at Glen Oaks is very friendly and helpful. Our room with a queen bed had some very nice upgrades -- big shower, heated bathroom floor, room heating by a gas fireplace. The portable fan that was provided was a nice addition, to move air... "Motor lodge" that's been rennovated. LOVED it! Small but well-appointed rooms :: modern with internet but no t.v. (thank goodness). Every night, they light the fire pit outside; tea/coffee/hot chocolate served in the office. Modern decor- would definitely stay there again. A bit noisy as it's right off the road but overnight, we didn't notice any cars so we slept... More

Americans call it a cabin. The English call it a shalet or a shed. Either way our luxurious shed was very tastefully decorated and was reasonably well appointed with facilities, but no TV for those who need it. it was overlooking the river, which was lovely, right in amongst nature, in beautiful surroundings. It was also an excellent location to... More

We stayed two nights in cabin 5 and while it was a bit dispiriting that it was not one cabin but two stuck together we never noticed and barely heard our neighbors. A refrigerator, coffee maker, and microwave were all in the room with complimentary oatmeal and hot coco. A nice surprise! Coffee at the front desk was also complimentary.... More

No TV, no hot tub, no fridge in the room. No swimming pool, no jaccuzzi, no gym. The environment is nice and cozy. BUT, the price is wayy too high for what it is. When we arrived there, I was surprised to see the sign was 'Glen Oak Motel'. I have always thought it was a Hotel. It is wayy... More

We weren't sure what to expect from this pricy "motel". We booked the Little Sur cabin and it was delightful! We were slightly disappointed that it was not a stand-alone cabin (it's a large cabin divided into two smaller ones) but the doors opened in opposite directions and we could barely tell we were sharing the building. A short walk... More
