A warm welcome, by the staff and by all the surrounding bush and flowers which provide such sweet scents. The room is very comfortable, very good bed, large chest of drawers, its own large “gas open fire”, large Italian shower, a private patio with wooden furniture, … A complimentary bottle of wine (excellent), some books, a Japanese set of water... My husband and I came here for our anniversary and it was amazing. I don't think we knew what to expect, but the price was agreeable for Big Sur so we hoped for the best and got it. We were surprised to have so much space and to ourselves as our cabin was moderately removed from others. The Sycamore Cabin... More

First things first. If I come back to Big Sur, as I hope I will, I will definitely consider staying here again. I stayed in the Adobe Motor Lodge which is basically a posh motel with extremely cosy and well appointed rooms. If I'm with a foxy lady when I pass through next time, as I hope I will be,... More

We had a wonderful stay in one of the cabins by the river in the redwoods. We were originally staying in the lodge but since it was midweek and they had cabins available we were upgraded (greatly appreciated). The cabin was clean and cozy. Also, had an excellent meal at the Big Sur Roadhouse.

Stayed here for two nights over Presidents' Day weekend. The location was awesome--super close to the state parks, Big Sur icons like Nepenthe, and even better, across the street was their restaurant, Big Sur Roadhouse, which was some of the most delicious food I've had in a long time! Staff was very friendly, room was warm and well decorated. The... More

This is a real find. If you've experienced other hostelries in winter in the same price range you'll have noticed that although there is charm you will probably have a draughty cold room. Not in Glen Oaks. The renovation is in complete accord with the surroundings but you can have a modern fireplace, heated floors, comfortable bed and an Asian... More

We just had our first visit to Glen Oaks Big Sur and we LOVED it. Their decision to keep the original exterior rugged look but adding a touch of modern living is a charming combination. Their restaurant Road House has great food, we ate their three times. They set up your fire pit before your arrival, all you need to... More

I'd been scoping this place for a while, excited by the promise of bright, stylish, mod design and quiet luxury in a tiny-house cabin or (even more surprising) a motor lodge. When a friend and I visited last March, we were not disappointed. The place is expensive, no one - whatever their means - is lying about this. But boy... More

We stayed in the Big Sur River Cabin, which was spacious and quiet. Serene loction next to the rushing river. Two stocked firepits just for the cabin, small kitchen etc. Compared to Post Ranch where we stayed previously, this wooded riverside retreat offered a great value and different kind of adventure.

My husband & I stayed here for our honeymoon in one of the cabins and it was absolutely incredible -- to say the least. It was exactly what we wanted out of our Big Sur experience. We enjoyed s'mores on our fire pit, the lovely walk to the Roadhouse and the sounds of the river at night. The staff was... More
