One of the delightful aspects of driving on Highway 1 south from San Francisco is the almost continuous stretch of pristine ocean front - with no development in sight. This unspoiled wilderness forms the backdrop for the Post Ranch Inn. The resort accommodation is located a kilometre or so from the highway on a ridge that provides extensive ocean views... More

Our annual Christmas/New Year’s vacation took us to San Francisco for 2006/2007. As part of that visit we took a daytrip to Big Sur. For overnight accommodations we picked the Post Ranch Inn. It was a delicious treat. From the very first moment we drove onto the well cared for but natural grounds until we checked out the next day,... More

We stayed at the Post Ranch Inn, right before they closed for remodeling... the grounds were well-kept. The place was literally empty and ours for the night. Dinner at Sierra Mar is a little artsy and small portions, but delicious... if you don't have the money -- ask the front desk to use one of their complimentary Lexus cars to... More

My husband and I stayed here for a long weekend and found the property to be incredible. This ocean front property had huge cliffs to the ocean which was one view. We stayed in a tree house and found the view of the mountains impressive. Our experience was that it was incredibly quiet on the weekend, although due to exansion... More

just returned from three magnificent, restful, days at the Post Ranch Inn...had heard about the place for years and had stayed across the road at Ventana several times. The entire experience was worth the wait....stayed in one of the Butterfly rooms with views of the mountains..just perfect...took hikes around the entire 90+ acre property..saw plenty of wildlife and the views... One arrives at Post Ranch generally from the Monterey Peninsula. Their website indicates that it takes about 30 minutes to get to the property from Carmel, but in actuality it'll take you closer to an hour. The road is windy, the traffic is slow and the views cause you to want tostop and spend some extra time. Upon arrival, you'll... More

My wife and I spent three wonderful nights at the Post Ranch Inn during the second week of October, 2006. It was my fourth visit, her third. We found it as wonderful as we had during each of our prior visits, and can’t wait to return. Others have more than adequately described the Inn, so I’ll limit my comments to... More

We stayed for a weekend in September 2006. The property itself is absolutely stunning. It is cliffside over the sea, and it is extremely private. The walks are gorgeous, and it has so few rooms that it's like having the property all to yourself most of the time. The food was also fantastic, as was the chef, who gave a... More

The Post Ranch Inn is on the top of every travel list and it was easy to see why after our one night stay there. Although it's not cheap, we felt like it was worth every penny. The service was excellent and incredibly efficient. Our room -- one of the cheapest sadly and facing the mountain and away from the... More

My VERY new husband & I ended up booking an elopement package at the Post Ranch Inn after a near-brush with the Ventana Inn across the street. Our wedding coordinator & officiant, Soaring Starkey, went out of her way to take care of every detail. She send a succinct list of questions to get the ball rolling & the marriage... More
