I read about this hotel online and it looked great. When I arrived, it was a little less cozy and a little more corporate than I had expected. The dark lodge looked more like a starbucks and the restaurant a little more cafeteria than I had expected. Still I was willing to stay and checked in to my room, which... More

We only had one night to stay here, but it was fantastic! We had a 1 bedroom "cabin", with a kitchen. The kitchen was fully stocked (plates, utensils, etc...) and was roomy. The cabin was clean and quite. We were right across from the pool area and a nice grassy area the was great for playing frisbee, tossing the ol'... More

I have to agree with the reviewer who thinks the rating average should be higher. I have stayed at the Big Sur Lodge two years in a row and found it wonderful both times. When I went back this year I asked for the same room I had before because I had liked its spaciousness and location. That room wasn't... More

Man, this just shows me to be careful about not reading too much into internet reviews when choosing a place to stay. As I write this, the average rating for Big Sur Lodge is 3.0, and I'm hoping to help pull it up a bit. This is my first internet review using TripAdvisor or other review website. I would not... The two of us had a restful 3-day stay here and I'm happy to say that our room was nothing like the wedding post below (bugs under the door? no outlets in the bathroom? --where did they stay?) Our unit was a 2-bedroom with new interiors, including a spotless new bathroom with GFI outlets in both the main bathroom and... More

We stayed for two nights in one of the cabins north of the road across from the restaurant. we arrived from out of state and thought we we going to a hotel by the ocean, but to our surprise we were in the beautiful redwood forest. the trees are magnificent., the campground at the state park was nice too for... What a disappointment. We were not expecting luxury, far from it, but when you book two rooms for four people in one of the shacks it would be nice to get four chairs to sit on out on the porch and not two. Even the dining table had only three chairs. The clerk at the front desk gave it away... More

Our family, with children (teens and 7&8 year old) arrived at Big Sur after staying in a luxurious $350/night ocean view hotel in Santa Barbara. After reading some reviews we were prepared for the worst. Turns out, we were actually pretty satisfied since we had a newly deocorated cabin!! We had cabin #27 with a fireplace and two queen beds... We stayed at Big Sur Lodge for three nights in July. I had stayed here as a child in the late 70's. I think the cabin we were in hadn't been updated in so many years. I understand they are updating all the cabins but ours was not. I booked my reservation 7 months in advance and requested a updated... More

This property is in the redwoods and the surroundings are beautiful. We had a rustic cabin-like apartment with a full kitchen. It included 3 double beds, one in a separate bedroom. It was comfortable and clean, but not luxurious. There was an outdoor heated pool, but not warm enough in June for the kids to stay in very long in... More
