We stopped here for one night as we drove up the Pacific Coast Highway as part of a trip to the west coast of the US. We didn't book in advance and we were able to get a last minute lodge. April on the front desk is just great, she is very helpful and charming and happy to help. The... More

My sister and I just returned from a wonderful trip in Northern California. The highlight was our stay at Big Sur lodge. Of course the forest setting can't be beat. Our room with a separate bedroom and fireplace was absolutely beautiful. Deborah Heiland was amazing in accommodating my sister's special needs. I can't praise Deborah enough. With easy access to... We stayed at Big Sur Lodge at the suggestion of a bride-to-be. For $230 a night, I expected something nicer. No tv, digital connection of ANY kind, no phone, no clock, and no AC! Breakfast entrees were in the $25 range. It's a privately run group of cabins in a state park and if you have a small car, you... More

On our website, we explain to travelers that Big Sur Lodge is a retreat-like setting among the redwoods with no phones, alarm clocks, and televisions in the rooms. A television is... More

I stayed with my wife for two nights during a nice hot time of year. The room comes a bed and bathroom but that's about it. This place is definitely no-frills and very basic dated accommodations and you're going to pay hefty price for it but heck you're in Big Sur, right. I gave it three stars just because of... More

For $300-$400 per night, this traveler expects primo service and amenities. This Lodge had neither. It was pretty much what you would expect of a state lodge - practically non-existent staff and when they did come, did not stock or clean very well. I had to go to the front desk to ask for toilet paper and soap. The rooms... More

DH and I needed a room at the last minute. They sold us a very expensive family room when they had smaller available, knowing the vacancy rate was low. Room was fairly clean, if you overlooked the cobwebs and worn furnishings. Bed was comfortable. Most staff was efficient and friendly. However, the desk clerk who said "Of course it's a... More

We stayed at the Big Sur Lodge due to a wedding in the Redwood Forest and reception afterwards at the Big Sur Lodge. We found the employees very friendly and helpful. I have read several of the reviews and will comment on some of them. People think the hotel cost to much for the type/age of buildings/rooms. The fact is the rates are on the lower end of the price range for Big Sur. You want a 5 start hotel stay at the Post Ranch for 800 to 1700 a night... More

So I needed a coffee for the ride to San Francisco. I ordered an ice latte. The girl asked me what size so I ordered a medium. She made the latte and I said I ordered an ice latte. She says that only comes in large. The problem here is that she's running the ice cream and cafe but doesn't... More

You will be dealing with state employees. If you arrive before the 4:00 check in time, too bad! No one checks in early. We got there at 2:00 and had to wait until 4:00 to check in and even then our room was't ready! There was also a heat wave and the room was very hot. We had to put... More
