Upon arrival, we were checked in by Deborah. She was so very friendly and gave us a few hiking trail suggestions and suggestions for sights to see in the immediate area. Our cabin was very comfortable. I personally did have enough reception to use my cell phone a bit in the room. Pool was nice, but didn't seem heated to... More

Quick check-in, found room satisfactory and easy to find. Since this was a lodge, the vending machine (ice machine) was a distance from the room. Problem: went to restaurant and they were understaffed, that is, only one cook and there were a couple of groups that showed to eat. I had to get my own water. Food was great (fish... More

Over decades coming to Big Sur, we never fail to marvel at the natural beauty of the central California coast. It truly is one of the most beautiful coastlines in the world. The Big Sur Lodge at Pfeiffer Big Sur State Park has been a frequent stop for our family. Once in the park, the magnificent redwoods keep one looking... More

spaventa-Thank you so much for coming to stay at Big Sur Lodge and for being a repeat customer. We are glad that you enjoyed the redwood setting and the wildlife including the turkeys and that you have fond memories of bringing your children here when they were in grade school. We are sorry that you had neighboring guests “across the... More

Big Sur Lodge (okay, all of Big Sur) is the place to go if you want to get off the grid. No cell reception, in room phones, or TV -gasp!- just nice quiet cabins where you can relax and unwind. I loved this place and its close proximity to all that Big Sur has to offer. My friends and I... More

Since my last visit 8 years ago only the main building and the shop has somewhat changed. The Cabins are unaltered, clean, very simple, as described in the other reviews, too expensive, should be renovated. When I arrived I was told that the lodge is almost fully booked. In fact the Lodge was booked up to 50%. The few vehicles... More

Porterricks Rheinberg-Thank you for being a repeat customer and coming to visit us again at Big Sur Lodge. In the last 8 years, both the Park and the Lodge have made lots of changes. We hope that you got to see, among other things, all the new paths, benches, decking, picnic tables and the plantings in the Park. The Park... More

We arrived late one evening without a reservation, so getting a cabin was an absolute joy. The service received was excellent and there is a nice gift shop and take-out bar. Cabin was fairly basic, but was excellent at accomodating four adults -- we had 2 queen beds and two twin. The room was quite cool when we arrived, so... More

Mila B-Thank you for your lovely review. We are delighted to know that you enjoyed the beautiful setting, your cabin, the gift shop, the café/deli, and the excellent service. How embarrassing that there wasn’t a pack of matches in your room! We are so sorry. Anytime you stay with us, you can always reach out to our Front Desk for... More

This (mixed) review will get a reaction from the Management, and like many others deemed negative, will include the "we're sorry..." But words are cheap. How about acting to improve the management of this beautiful but flawed lodge? Start with Reservations. We reserved a year in advance, but when we later tried to extend a night, we received no response... More

We came to Big Sur for an in-law family trip. My husband and I stayed in a regular King size room, a group of family stayed in a Kitchen/Fireplace unit and the other group in a Fireplace unit. Our unit was very large, much larger than I anticipated and bigger than most hotel rooms. The online description of what's available... More

Large 1 bedroom cabin in Pfeiffer State Park. Very quiet, nice interior, and perfect spot to go on several hikes in the park. Definitely recommend going to Pfeiffer State Beach--unmarked road with incredible views.
