Food was good, service was poor. Understaffed (according to manager) and no list was being kept, so people seated ahead of us randomly. Coffee and espresso bar poorly managed as well. Restrooms were filthy several days in a row. Overall, restaurant experience was poor while our stay was great!

My husband and I spent 2 nights at the Big Sur Lodge for a weekend getaway. We really enjoyed our stay. The location of the cabins is great - up the hill from the lodge and the highway, so it is pretty quiet there. The lodging is in the state park, so hiking is nearby. It is also very close... More

I don't mind if a place is out of date or worn out, but I absolutely cannot deal with dirty! One nightstand had some type of green goo on it, smeared and dried, while both nightstands had sticky rings where glasses had sat. The bed linens on my son's bed had something nasty and wet on it, so I gave... More

We visited the Big Sur Lodge as part of our honeymoon trip travelling up the California Coast. My husband and I are both keen hikers and lovers of the great outdoors, and so the inclusion of entry to several national parks in the room rate, as well as the stunning location, were key factors in our deciding to stay here.... We were traveling down the Pacific Coast with our family (kids 6 and 8) and the Big Sur Lodge was very memorable. We arrived in the evening tired and hungry and were pleased to find a quaint restaurant with tasty, healthy and affordable food. Our cabin, although simple, was CLEAN and plenty spacious. It was nestled among large redwoods. We... More

Big Sur Lodge is pretty much what it claims to be. It's not selling itself as a particularly lavish accommodation, rather a safe and habitable lodging in amidst the trees and wildlife with close access to world beating coastal views. The 'chalets' are very basic but spacious and comfortable. As an Englishman they remind of a gigantic high end garden... More

My partner and I just enjoyed a peaceful stay at the Big Sur Lodge. We stayed in a fireplace queen room. The room was simple, but spacious, clean and very comfortable. Although it was a motel style room, the space had the feeling of a cabin. The grounds were beautiful and teeming with wildlife. We spotted chipmunks, squirrels, deer, wild... More

Big Sur Lodge The Big Sur Lodge is a no frills, basic lodge with clean adjoining 1-story cottage-like spacious bedrooms, well-appointed bathrooms, patios that look into the trees, good king and queen beds with fireplaces and kitchens in some rooms – which is to say accommodations are highly functional given your needs. Just paid the bill for our three-night stay at the Big Sur Lodge. Totally overpriced for what we got! An average room (no kitchen facilities), in an average setting (dumpster opposite our patio), with a nice pool, for an exorbitant price. That was it. Didn't even include day use at any of the areas in the State park. We stayed... More
