I was happy to get a room here at the last minute -- I called from Carmel, half hour up the road. My room (#43) was spacious, clean, quiet, NO mildew or mold odor, with a nice deck looking out over a lawn with redwood trees beyond. AAA discount $10. Comfortable bed, no TV or wifi (unless you pay $5/hr... More

We stayed at the Big Sur Lodge during our one night visit in Big Sur. Our spacious room had a queen size bed and fireplace. It was very cozy and quiet. We parked adjacent to the cabin. The bed was very comfortable and we enjoyed a good night's sleep. In the morning we woke up early to start our day... More

It was exactly what we thought it would be, a rustic cabin in the woods. The property was beautiful though, and surrounded by the magical redwood forest. The restaurant at the lodge was quite tasty and the grounds are covered in little trails. The room was minimal, but it did have a fireplace and hot water in the shower! We... More

As noted, it's far from luxury, and I wished I'd reserved in time to get the one King bed room at $159 (settled for a one Queen bed room at the same price), but the location is nice, close to woods, streams, etc. and a short drive to beaches. Most of the other cabins have kitchens, at higher prices. We... More

Wasn't expecting anything amazing after reading a lot of negative reviews but we were pleasantly surprised. The cabin itself was fine, very spacious with high ceilings and a nice bathroom. However, we would've enjoyed free wifi or satellite television, which they do not provide. The wifi was ridiculously expensive and we did not purchase. Other than that, the grounds are... More

mroth14- Thank you for visiting Big Sur Lodge. We are happy to hear that you enjoyed your room, the setting, the hiking, and the wildlife including the wild turkeys, deer and condors. We are sorry that the prices at the restaurant and the Wi-Fi did not meet your expectations. Wi-Fi is an elective amenity here at Big Sur Lodge because... More

We stayed in a king bed unit. It felt like we were staying in a cabin in the woods, and being in Big Sur, that was the feeling we were hoping for. The rooms were quite spacious, with high ceilings and a sky light, and a cute back porch with patio furniture. The only draw back was that there wasn't... More

Big Sur Lodge was just what we were hoping to find. A rustic lodge surrounded by the awesome beauty of Big Sur. We were lucky to scoop up a last minute cancellation, just after Thanksgiving. Another bonus was the fireplace in the room. Absolutely perfect! Hope to go for Thanksgiving this year. Some rooms have enough beds for a family... More

For $200/a night I was expecting at least more sound proofed walls since our next door neighbor had a little baby crying all night long. Room was ok, nothing special. After 9pm, the whole complex turned to a ghost town; even the cafe and grocery store was closed. And there was this weird attitude at almost all staff members, which... More

We chose this lodge because of the location to hiking and trails. They also had a room choice that comfortably slept five. Be aware the food and restaurants in Big Sur are quite pricey. There are no reasonable options. The lodge restaurant was good and clean and moderately priced. Every other restaurant we went to was more expensive. Room was... More

Thank you for staying at Big Sur Lodge. We are glad to hear that you liked your room and our restaurant. While it is true that our rooms do not offer televisions as part of the retreat-like ambiance, we do have big screen televisions at our Outdoor Patio Bar should you come visiting again. If you would like to let... More

Lodging in Big Sur is pricey. At $200 a night this lodge was up there for us but most rooms sleep 4 so this could be an affordable option for families. The rooms were spacious and clean. We also enjoyed the convince of the general store and moderate trails. The outdoor bar is also nice but the restaurant is just... More
