We stayed at the hotel for one night on a weekday. We had asked for a king sized bed, and so we were in the units across the road from the main hotel and restaurant. The room was adequate, but it was "no frills". There was no telephone in the room, nor was there a television in the room. I... More

For some reason we expected more of a rustic type inn. Basically it was a big motel spread all over the place. The room was O.K. but nothing to write home about. No TV, no telephone, the ice machine a mile away, and definitely not handicapped accessible,. at least in our unit. There were steps up from the parking lot... More

The Big Sur River Inn has a new ridiculous policy implemented by an extremely rude Manager and Assistant Manager as the server looks on in utter embarrassment. Apparently, the River Inn does not want business from anyone affiliated with the band. To preface this, you should know that on the outside deck where we performed yesterday, there were 4 or... Arrived at the 'wait here to be seated' sign, stood there unattended for so long we walked in and found a waitress. Asked if we could sit at a table and were directed back to the empty hostess counter. Explained briefly that we had already waited there and were told that breakfast was over anyway and if we wanted to... More

While the Big Sur River Inn may be iconic and an easy spot to stop for the night when traveling through Big Sur here's some things you should know if you've never traveled here before.... Large bar and restaurant, pretty setting in the small backyard. This place is like a mini resort with a convenience store and a gas station,... More

I stayed here on the last night of a 5 day trek up the coast with my wife and 2 kids and it was the perfect place to recharge. After reading some of the reviews on here I expected a glorified motel but I would rate it much better than that. It was a very clean and modern room and... More

In Big Sur, it seemed that hotel options were either really expensive or a tent. Neither were suitable so we were really happy to find the Big Sur River Inn. My husband and I were on a 3-week honeymoon, traveling down the PCH, so we were on a budget and this place really was our only options. The rooms are... More

We stayed in one of the log cabins across the road from the main motel, lovely rooms with a small porch that you can sit out on each evening. having a drink with your feet in the stream at the back of the motel is a must, we spent hours sitting in the sun! Staff were lovely and Big Sur... More

We just spent two nights at the River Inn. There were four of us, my husband and I, daughter and grandson, and we had a suite. Our rooms were lovely, rustic and comfortable. We'd stayed here before and understood that it lacked microwave, refrigerator, etc., and we planned around that. When you can plan lunches in the nearby State Parks... More

This is a cool spot to have lunch OR stay for a couple while you hike and enjoy Big Sur. The location is right on the river and there is a bbq on the weekend; pull up a chair and dip your feet in the cool river while your hubs gets you a drink as you watch your little ones... More
