We stayed one night in this motel, in the rooms across the street from the inn. The room decor was nice, the room clean, the bed comfortable. The walls were thin; luckily, our neighbors did not stay up late or get up early. The bathroom was tight, but the water was hot. You pay for the location, right on highway... More

The rooms are away from the main hotel and the river, across from the road, which was not adequately mentioned during the booking process. The bathroom door had no latch, and the wash basin tap water would either be scalding hot or freezing cold. It took some time consuming subtle manipulations to get the temperature right. And if you are... More

My wife and I stayed here for one night when driving down Highway 1 (which is an amazing experience which should be on everyone's 'bucket list'). Once you lower your expectations, and a few of the reviews on tripadvisor do this successfully, the rooms are adequate for a night as long as you're a heavy sleeper, not worried by noise... More

Traveling down the coast we decided to stay in Big Sur, I bought a discounted room on booking.com. 1. When I arrived I saw "booking.com" stamped on my invoice--combined with the fact that they then put us in a noisy room across the street from the river, when the most of the rest of the hotel was empty leads me... I thought the hotel was great. I loved the atmosphere of the area and the room. It was clean and very "cabin like". The restaurant was OK. Not bad just OK. Considering its the only place to get food, they should up the quality a bit more.

Felt ripped off at this place for the price they charge. The rooms were run down, broken wall fixtures in the bathroom and the heater was so incredibly loud, it felt like we were sleeping on a runway. Wish we had been warned that the rooms had no phones and there is no cell service in the area. Don't stay... More

If you want back to basics then this is the place for you no TV and nowt all else to do except sit in front of the Fireplace and warm yourself up after a hard days trekking. The rooms are basic and small but you would probably only spend sleeping time in the room so get out and explore the... More

Nice creek in the back. The room had stained carpets -- we wore our shoes until we got in the bed. We got a room with beds for the kids, and their beds were uncomfortable. My daughter had a sore back for days afterwards.

My stay at the Big Sur River Inn was nothing but very pleasant! The cabins were basic and rustic (no cable or TV), but still very comfy and welcoming, so, this might not the right place if you're expecting a 5-star hotel. Having a restaurant, convenience store and gas station around made it very convenient as well. We've walked through... More

Gave a very down home feeling, nice and secluded. Didn't like that there wasn't any tv and very little to no cell reception. Small room, very primitive. A bit pricey for the accommodations. LOVED the Big Sur area despite the hotel. We ended up joining some local dinner event at the restaurant that was pricey for the quality of food... More
