We just spent two nights at the River Inn. There were four of us, my husband and I, daughter and grandson, and we had a suite. Our rooms were lovely, rustic and comfortable. We'd stayed here before and understood that it lacked microwave, refrigerator, etc., and we planned around that. When you can plan lunches in the nearby State Parks... More

This is a cool spot to have lunch OR stay for a couple while you hike and enjoy Big Sur. The location is right on the river and there is a bbq on the weekend; pull up a chair and dip your feet in the cool river while your hubs gets you a drink as you watch your little ones... More

My husband & I stayed for 1x night whilst travelling up Pacific Highway 1, we had a private ensuite cabin across the road from the main restaurant/reception. Our cabin was well appointed, cosy & comfortable, with parking out front. Had a v comfortable nights sleep but found the restaurant way too expensive. We found other food options; a far more... We recently returned from a charity event - bringing 21 cyclists down the PCH. We booked our rooms at the Big Sur river inn as we found it was one of the most reasonably places in the area. There were 26 people in our party in total and absolutely everyone fell in love with the setting. Our beds were comfortable... More

I was in the middle of cycling 620 miles down the West Coast of the USA and whilst not too fancy, the Big Sur River Inn was a lovely addition to the several motel/hotels we stayed in throughout the week. There was a lovely river running through the forest at the back, and we were serenaded by jazz flute whilst... More

We stayed here on our honeymoon half way through our tour of California, it was also my birthday the day we stayed. I wish I could have stayed forever. I had already relaxed by the time we got here and I did not think it possible to relax further but I managed it here the moment we arrived. The hotel... More

My boyfriend and I stayed there for a wedding in the area and at the time we made our reservation this was pretty much the only place with any rooms left and we took the last one which unfortunately was a suite, so it was the most expensive room left. It faced the river which was beautiful but the room... More

My wife and I was traveling with another couple down the PCH (which was everything we dreamed it would be). We booked a night at this hotel, and it was such a great change of pace from some of the other places we stayed along our trip. It feels like you are going back in time with the early hours... More

Big Sur is ridiculously expensive. I think the Big Sur River Inn might be as good as you will get for $200. Yes, the room was on the highway, but the traffic wasn't that bad and a little front porch with divisions between rooms buffered it somewhat. The basic room was clean, recently refurbished, and it had a very comfortable... More

Me and my friend rented a car from San Fran, and drove down to LA, and stopped here overnight, and was really nice. Firstly the man at the front desk gave us a cheaper price, maybe because we were tourists, so knocked off $95's off, so that was really nice and helpful. The rooms are little lodges, across the road... More
