BE AWARE of Dunja & Gabriel they are ghost hosts!!! I made reservation with Dunja on line. I let her know what time we are coming. We were e-mailing each other back and forth several times. When we arived from teh airport .... we waited from 4 pm to after 7 pm at front of the hotel. No sign of... more

Hotel was completely acceptable for the price we paid ($65 a night). We got a simple room with AC. It was clean and cozy. Everything was walking distance of the hotel. We took buses around the greater area, the hotel helped us figure out the timetables for the buses so that was nice. However, there was none of the amazing... more

Sorry to report, but Dunja and Gabriel are gone. We arrived to no restaurant, no TV, and depressed service. Sounds like things have changed a lot -- for the worse. To their credit, they returned our full reservation for the following night, but for less money we got a much better value at Hacienda Puerto Morales -- a room and... more

My family and I spent 2 different nights on June 28, 2007 and July 9, 2007. We booked on Hostal World and received a note from Dunja(a co-owner) the same afternoon encouraging us to spend $10 extra for air-conditioning and TV which, unlike some inexperienced travelers, we knew that you never rent a room without air-conditioning on the Yucatan Peninsula.... more

This was a clean, bright happy place to stay. Dunja and Gabriel (the owners and Attila the greeting dog) were nice, relaxed and great hosts. The breakfasts were homemade yumminess, the fondue is yummy. The rooms are simple but more than comfortable.... the room we stayed in (no AC) had great cross breezes from the windows and the ceiling fan... more

We reserved one night here for $40 and paid an addional $10 for breakfast (cash only paid upon arrival). The hotel is located a few blocks from the beach which has very little breeze and close to what appeared to be a dirty swamp. It was very hot and humid and we made the mistake of not renting an air... more

We stayed for a short week with Dunja and Gabriel. They are very gracious hosts. I caught a nice snapper one day and Gabriel cooked it up for all of us to share (he is good in the kitchen and makes the best italian style coffee in town). When we left to go camping at the end of our stay,... more

We came from the crowded beaches of Isla Mujeres and looked for a relaxing and calm place. When we arrived at Caracol, Puerto Morelos we found it. Our room was spacious with a small kitchenette, bathroom and aircon. During our stay, Gabriel and Dunja (the Swiss owners) were adding their own personal touch to the hotel, like making lamps out... more

We arrived at night and the owner had stayed up, to wait for us, even when we was an hour later than expected. The room was clean, there was no noise and we slept very well after 24h travel. Off cause for $40 you get no luxury hotel, but here you get a lot for you money. If you want... more
