Dalia, my better half, wrote down her impressions of Casa Cimeira (Valença do Douro, Portugal). Here is what she has to say. Dalia is too shy to send it herself… Casa Cimeira is a promise fulfilled. As you approach the B&B driving through hillside vineyards you already dream of the wonderful wine varieties. At the door you are greeted by... More

Casa Cimeira is located on a hilltop in the town of Valenca above the Alto Douro. The 200 years old house has been wonderfully restored and offers modern amenities in a beautiful location. The hosts are warm and charming, the optional home cooked dinner is one of the best one can experience in Portugal, the house wine and Port are... More

This is a unique place. As mentioned in many comments before the hosts do not speak any other language than portuguese. This is not a problem at all as they can comunicate with you with hands, feet and their big hearts. Great Value, great food and lovely rooms. If you wanna explore real Portugal - go!

We stayed two nights at Casa Cimeira and liked everything, starting with the beautiful views over the Douro valley as you drive up the hill to the hotel. Roberto and Maria were very friendly and our 10-year old daughter loved playing with their cats. The house wine and the house port are delicious and the dinners and breakfasts are very... More

We stayed here for 3 nights at the end of March. We had the best meals while in Portugal! Maria serves home cooked meals in the evening for €15 per person...which comes with their vineyard wine. It was the best meals we had in Portugal. We would highly recommend staying here!

Bed and breakfast seems inadequate to describe the experience. Maria and her family made us feel right at home from the moment we arrived. We had seen the superlative Tripadvisor reviews and were not disappointed. As has been pointed out, this is not a 5 star luxury facility (although there are certainly many 5 star aspects), but an opportunity to... More

We stayed 3 nights at Casa Cimeira. It is one of the very best places I have stayed at (and I have stayed at hundreds of interesting places all over the world). Beautiful house, large room, great dinners and breakfasts. Most amazing is the friendly feeling. Maria is working continuously to prepare food and running the place. Both she and... More

Apart from the size and comfort of our antique decorated room with breathtaking views of the Douro Valley, the best part of our stay was the warm hospitality of our hosts, Arturo and Maria. We were greeted with a flask of estate grown Port and as we arrived late and did not see any restaurants in the village we opted... More

Staying at Casa Cimeira feels like staying with your aunt Maria and uncle Arturo. With hardly any English, they make you feel at home and let you stay in their house. Needless to say, dinner is made for all guests and is decided by Maria (she does consult you for your preference; chicken or beef.....). A great place to stay... More

If you are looking for a place to stay in the Douro valley I highly recommend casa cimeira! Beautiful house, very warm welcoming, delicious porto and delicious food (served in very generous portions!) It is very quiet with a breathtaking view over the valley. The owners are very nice and make you feel at home. Perfect place to relax and... More
