We stayed here for 2 nights. We had read about this place before so were not expecting lots of big animals and were therefore not disappointed in not seeing lots of these. It's a great place to see birds and also to experience a different type of landscape as it's quite dry and arid here. We went on day trip... More

We stayed for 4 nights in Joy's Camp and our total experience was marvellous. The tents are really nice and luxurious. Very spacious, really good bed, lovely decoration, big bath room (with good shower, no bath). Lots of privacy, because tents are well separated. We had a nice view from our deck on area around the spring in from of... More

Jan, thanks for taking the time to write such a thorough review, helping other travellers to really get a feel for what Joy’s Camp is all about. Yes, the walk to tent 10 is certainly worth it for the seclusion and privacy - a lovely quiet spot. It was a pleasure meeting you and Tiny and I'm truly glad you... More

(NFD = Northern Frontier District) Specifically Kenyan, specifically linked to the early explorers, to adventure tinged with romance and danger. Joy's Camp was planned and built by Mike Lawrence, a marvellous raconteur and old fashioned Kenyan colonial, in its best sense. Located on a spot frequented by you guessed it Joy Adamson, it is delightful, especially if you love bird... More

Joy's Camp quickly followed my stay at Elsa's Kopje and therefore the storyline of my Kenyan adventure continued to follow Joy Adamson's historic and infamous life studying the behaviour of the big cats. Joy's Camp is located where Joy - made famous by the book and film 'Born Free' - lived out her final years. And what a dramatically beautiful... More

It was a long drive from Nairobi, but it was worth it. The place in the bush is brilliant. Excellent staff, food and the rooms and the amenities. Eco Lodge and it is. Good views from the dining area. Spent two nights there but will book for four nights just to relax!

Joy’s Camp is located in an extremely pretty area of the Shaba National Park. Green marshes, Umbrella Acacias and the mountain ranges all around make it a stunning location. We were met by Peter and Daniella, the management couple, very friendly and very professional, they made us feel at home immediately. The tented units are magnificent. Although the walls and... More

Thank you so much for taking the time to write your detailed review. We’re delighted you enjoyed our little camp so much. So sorry that you were disappointed with the wildlife. As you’ll see from other reviews, wildlife viewing is very much the luck of the draw but we do have quite a spectacular array of unusual species, many of... More

After driving a long way through Samburu and then into Shaba, we found Joy's Camp in an oasis atmosphere and were greeted most warmly. We were there over St. Patrick's Day and we all celebrated heartily along with the staff. The tents were so comfortable and had great vistas right from the front patios. The community gathering spots were beautiful... More

Stayed 3 nights in Joys Camp. Shaba is an absolutely beautiful part of Kenya. There is plenty of interesting game in the park, but perhaps not so easily seen as in the more famous parks.
