We stayed at 4 different Sarova hotels on our recent safari and thought each was superb and unique. Shaba lodge was amazing--fantastic, huge pool, rooms spacious enough for a family with excellent beds and linens, gorgeous grounds (large enough to walk around in, which is unusual for most game lodges), delicious, 5-star quality food, and very kind , attentive staff... The road into the game lodge is rough, but well worth the effort. The game drives in Samburu are why you travel but the Shaba game lodge is where you'd want to be to relax and recharge. The rooms are spacious, clean, and very comfortable. The cabins, restaurant and lounge are all spread out in a forested area near the... More

Dear guest, It was pleasure hosting you. Please accept this late response as it was beyond our control. The three parks located next to each other in this eco system are indeed a gem and unmatched in many ways. A number of positive developments have been undertaken since your last visit and thus a good reason for you to sample... More

I went with a mission to Kenya for two weeks, and we ended our trip at this lodge. The rooms were inexpensive and comfortable, but after the work we had done, anything would have seemed luxurious! The food at the buffet was fantastic, and the staff was so friendly. Also, the pool was breathtaking. One word of warning though... LOCK... More

We spent just the two nights here and there were no real problems. On arrival the porter found one of the rooms wasn’t made up but instantly had us transferred to better rooms. There were three of us so we had two rooms with a connecting door something I was told wasn’t possible when I booked in the UK. The... More

We stayed at Shaba in May at the end of the rainy season. The lodge itself is beautiful. The staff were very friendly. They informed us upon check-in that they switch off the electricity several times a day, which is quite normal in Kenya. However one of those times was midnight-5am. We woke up around 12:20am having realised the ceiling... More

Sarova rings the bell of superior quality in everything. However, Shaba Game Lodge is most certainly not your usual Sarova. Of course, they are not that expensive as the other facilities, but read the rest. While sharing comments on location and probably on rooms, I'd like to say we were not impressed by service. We were booked into a room... More

We stayed here for the first two nights of our safari. When we arrived we were amazed as we approached the lodge it appeared out of no where and was a little oasis in the middle of the reserve. Stayed at Sarova Shaba Lodge for two nights in early October 2008. Nice lodge, but a little too fancy to my taste - it does not have much of a wild feeling. The natural riverine forest was turned into a sort of garden, somewhat out of place in Samburuland. On the plus side you can watch lots of bird species,... More
