Clean comfortable but a little dated. Adequate kitchen, and an old fashioned weak shower with curtain, all the rooms were spacious, but the main bedroom had a small en suite toilet, with the most ridiculously placed sink. The sink dug into your arm whilst sitting! We quite enjoyed our 2 day stay there, having a nice view out the back... More

we stayed here at the bay country motel for a night. it is just outside of pohara and served as a convenient location to explore takaka, the nearby pupu springs, pohara, and totaranui beach. the room is spacious and clean, and we did not have any issues with the bed or bathroom as some previous reviewers have mentioned. because we... My husband and I were disappointed in this motel and will not return. Rundown, dirty, old rooms with a toilet that spewed its contents every time you flushed. Lumpy beds, dirty moldy shower curtains, torn rugs, the list goes on and on. To add insult to injury, they charge extra for everything that should be included in a rented room:... More

My husband and I recently married. We decided to go somewhere sunny and quiet for our honeymoon, we had an excellent and relaxing time in pohara although we did spend most of it in bed :) . Also we took a trip with leigh out on the fishing boat, it was a beautiful day and we caught lots of fish... More

It's was getting dark and we were look for accommodation for the night (17Sep2011). We passed by Bay Country Lodge, Golden Bay, NZ. and decided to check it out. It turned out to be surprisingly good. Michelle the host offered us a beautiful room that opened out to an equally beautiful garden. Wi-fi was free and limitless, a great bonus... More

Having traveled to many countries in the world, it's a joy to find Golden Bay, New Zealand and an accommodation such as Bay Country Lodge. We so enjoyed our extended stay for it's 'kiwi' charm of homeiness and friendliness. The place was spotless and the amenities of a complete kitchen made it easy and comfortable. It's a true slice of... More

We enjoyed our stay at this motel, the staff were very friendly and our room was clean and enjoyable to relax in. A well equipped kitchen and a 5 minute walk to Pohara beaches makes this a great location to get away.

A motel for people who are looking for a tranquil, homey place to stay and are not into pretentiousness. I have stayed with my young children at Bay Country Lodge three times now and the Kiwiana charm and value for money keeps bringing me back. We are booked in to stay 10 days in September 2010. Can't wait to do... More

2 trips and 6 weeks spent in New Zealand have given us many reasons to tell all that we know "This is a beautiful country to visit" And it is the people that make it so. We have stayed in all types of accomodations on our trips and felt that Bay Country Lodge lived up to our expectations of friendly... More
