Magical stay at Augill in a family party of 11, ranging in age from 3 to 76. Accommodation very comfortable, breakfast sumptuous etc. Best of all, the genuinely friendly and helpful staff ensured all of us felt welcome and cared for, and left refreshed and relaxed. This is a very special place.

Spent a long weekend at augil for our wedding annivesary and really enjoyed our stay. We booked the langdale room which had lovely views over the gardens. Our hosts simon & wendy + their wonderful staff made us feel really at home. Dining with the other guests sat round one huge table really helped to break the ice and we... More

My children and I (aged 9 and 10) spent the night at Augill and had the most wonderful time. Wendy and her team made us feel incredibly welcome - infact it was more like 'home from home'. The kids are encouraged to roam around the castle, go and play in the tree house and swings and explore. The bed was... More

Without doubt one of the loveliest places to stay in the UK. I could describe Augill as a relaxed boutigue hotel, or a home from home. What is certain is the rooms are exceptional, the food extremely tasty and the wines from quality growers. This is our second visit to Augill Castle. Our first was as a couple in November,... More

What a gem! My husband and I stayed for two nights in July, and had the most amazing time. Even before our arrival, the staff were so responsive to our requests (gluten free high tea!), and during our stay we found all the staff to be just wonderful. The room we had was so romantic and comfortable (Brackenber), with a... More

Dear Sofia Thank you for your kind review. Brackenber certainly is a special room with its contemporary four poster bed and its quirky turret which is used as a wardrobe. We defy anyone not to see the fun in it. In fact, so comfortable is it that Brackenber is the bedroom most people over-sleep in! We're glad you found our... More

This review is a little old, sorry, I've just joined Trip Advisor, we actually stayed there in April 2013. Wonderful place with a very unique atmosphere, all the guests we staid with felt like family. Dinner was served round the single banquet table and promoted lots of chatting and a very relaxed atmosphere. The room was a wonderful mix of... More

It was my daughters birthday so there were four adults and a two year old, and im not sure which one of us enjoyed it the most. We stayed in the stable and it had everything amd more. The castle was beautiful, there's no denying. The room, Langdale, was fantastic with no complaints, staff were friendly and the food was excellent. The bed was lovely and so comfortable. The bathroom was beautiful, clean and spacious. On the downside, my husband and I chose the castle for a relaxing break but found that it was not as relaxing as... More

Dear 'Bebo' Beautiful castle: fantastic room: friendly staff: excellent food: lovely bed, so comfortable: beautiful, clean and spacious bathroom. We pretty much nailed it. Other people we can't control, we aren't on the board of the mobile phone companies and the wifi works but sometimes the broadband drops out - so write to BT. As for the dining arrangements, you... My daughter and her husband chose Augill Castle as the venue to renew their marriage vows by way of a wedding blessing. Both families came together for a never to be forgotten experience. This three day event saw a Bermuda party, the blessing, the wedding breakfast, the evening party and the Sunday winding up. I cannot praise highly enough the... More

We had our wedding here with exclusive access. The staff work so hard and nothing is too much trouble for them. All my guests were impressed with their very unique and individual rooms, the setting is beautiful and the location is easily accessible in beautiful Cumbria. It is family friendly and an excellent opportunity to meet new people when you... More

Dear Ginny & Mark Awesome Augill, awesome guests, awesome weather... A truly awesome weekend! Having gone Bermudan for the weekend, will Augill ever be the same again? Probably not. Jonny Cakes and Bermudan style Mac & Cheese have already found their way on to our menu. Thank you for bringing some tropical flavour (and sunshine) to our summer. With fondest... More
