A fantastic wilderness lodge. Set in beautiful surroundings, with a host of wonderful adventurous activities to indulge in, the highlight of this lodge is the caring, attentive staff. We will definitely return.

I went to this lodge in a beautiful setting in August. So it is not bear season although they were grizzly bears around. I saw two of them. I did the explorer package. The lodge is very comfortable with spacious lodges and delicious food. They accommodate all special meal requirements and the staff are absolutely amazing. The guides are superbly... More

We stayed here for two nights in June 2014. The setting for the lodge and cabins is simply stunning, there are mountain views all around you and it is only a short walk down to the river. The cabins themselves (we were in 'Black Bear') were spacious, with good quality furniture and well maintained. The owner had obviously listened to... More

Beautiful location with amazing groomed grounds, amazing food and a comfortable, well equipped chalet. Although we were at Tweedsmuir Park Lodge before bear viewing season, we still saw a mama black bear and her two cubs on the side of the road. Exciting and great photo op. Even if you don't see a single bear you will not be disappointed.

Stayed for just two nights during a holiday in Canada. Booked via 3rd party website and got the rooms for an excellent price. We were welcomed personally by Rebecca who is simply a great hostess. She had upgraded us to a loft cabin (Bobcat) which has a fantastic view. The food, while not cheap, is very good and the staff... More

Went to Bella Coola again this year. we go back every year. Tweedsmuir Lodge was again absolutely amazing. Great Wines and Superb Food. Best location for HeliSki as the Heli picks you up in front of your Cabin/Room and off to Deep Powder Skiing. I have already reviewed this resort back in 2012, I've not been back (even though I would love to). I've just seen some more photos on Facebook. This is the most idyllic place we visited in BC (5 visits over 8 years) and there were a lot of contenders. In fact there are only 3 places I've been over the... More

We stayed at Tweedsmuir for 5 nights in October, it was booked for us by a specialist wildlife travel agency. Staff were really good and rustled us up some lunch at 3pm when we arrived late due to our flight being diverted. Only note on the food was there was only one choice for dinner. Bear viewing was great -... More

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Home of the Grizzly Bears! The historic Tweedsmuir Park Lodge, set on 60 acres of private land within the vast wilderness of British Columbia's largest protected park, is the ideal setting for your wilderness adventures. Originally built in 1929 as a hunting and fishing resort, today the lodge accommodates those seeking out a more eco-friendly adventure as well as a relaxing refuge from the pressures of modern life. The surrounding environment is stunning. Rising above the valley floor are the majestic Coast Mountains, to the west is the largest fjord system in the Americas, and to the east the high Chilcotin Plateau. It is a bio-diverse and spectacular wilderness, home to the totemic wildlife of the Great Bear Rainforest. Nestled in the largest protected park in British Columbia, the Lodge is only an hour flight from Vancouver. Consistent winners of TripAdvisor's Certificate of Excellence and the Traveller's Choice award as part of their Top 25 Small Hotels (Canada), guests stay in private timber chalets on property bordering the Atnarko and Bella Coola Rivers. Thanks to healthy fish stocks, the Lodge is situated amongst one of the world's largest Grizzly Bear populations. The Canadian Tourism Commission has included Tweedsmuir Park Lodge's Grizzly Bear Safaris in their prestigious 'Signature Experiences Collection'. Participants enjoy the tours due to the small group size (maximum of four people) and the absence of man-made fishing channels. All river travel is on non-motorized drift boats, giving participants a more natural experience. In addition to Grizzly Bear Viewing guests can also enjoy; heli-fishing, heli-hiking, fly-fishing, Guided Nature Hikes, photography, First Nations culture, excursions on the inlets or even summer heli-skiing! Relax by the fireplace, enjoy a new spa and a massage, soak in the outdoor hot-tub, or simply retire to the lodge deck for drinks. Definitely keep your eyes open for local wildlife, including grizzly bears, which may lumber past on the lawn.
