Following such great recommendations we stayed for two nights at Foxgloves and loved it. Tony was busy but Cheryl looked after us like family. The Victorian themed room we stayed in was full of character and the accommodation comfortable. The location is ideal as a first or final stop before Auckland. Thoroughly recommended.

More like a 5* hotel than a B&B. The dinner was first rate! If described as a 'lodge' or something, they could & should charge double. Please go! A little difficult to find. My sat nav sent me the wrong way round....

After a month in NZ, this was one of my most favorite stays. I only met Tony as his wife was away on business. I was attended to like a King. The place itself is about 30 minutes from supermarkets and the like, but you will not need to bring food as Tony cooks up meals full of fresh ingredients... More

These people are living my dream - 3 themed rooms with great attention to detail. There was only one other couple staying at the same time as us. Dining room (beautifully set for meals) and lounge available. Our room had french doors onto a verandah - we slept with the doors open. A hot tub (quite hot!!) and an open... More

We sneak away from the kids and come and stay once a year or so and it is gorgeous! beautiful rooms, great food (Tony & Cheryl are happy to cater to my fussy dietary requirements too), love the outdoor spa pool, totally relaxing place to be. Highly recommend to anyone who wants to get away from it all for a... More

A beautifully refurbished and furnished Colonial Villa with lovely mature plantings and garden, and in such a pretty ‘secret’ part of the North Island too! Tony and Cheryl were wonderful hosts, providing us with sumptuous dinners and breakfasts, and a very warm welcome, with both a relaxed atmosphere and unobtrusive attention to detail – well done! We’d be very happy... More

We had a weekend here recently. Very impressed. Cheryl and Tony the owners are great. We stayed for dinner both nights. If you take this option (and we recommend you do), make sure you eat nothing during the day as Tony cooks up a huge meal! Saves having to travel out for food and the meals were lovely. The house... I treated my wife for an evening sleepout. This place (and their owners) were amazing. Upon entering the doors, we were transported back 60, 80 years. The authenticity of the decor, furniture, the bathrooms, even the cutlery were true to some time way back in the past. Tony & Cheryl are right on the money with this gem in the... More

Perfect B&B about 90 minutes from the airport. We stayed there for our last night in New Zealand, and wished we could have stayed longer. Perfect hosts, lovely room, idyllic location and a glass of red in front of the outdoor log fire in the evening. A truly great last night in NZ.

It is difficult to say what we loved most about Foxgloves, the location, the house, the service, the hosts or the dogs. If you are looking for an amazing place to stay in the most idyllic location, with great food, fabulous hosts and the cutest dogs, then this is the place for you! Foxgloves is off the beaten track which... More
