Elegant setting both inside or out. Fresh twists on Umbrian cuisine. Knowledgeable and warm sommelier will guide you through the fine regional wines. Service and setting makes for a special but not stuffy experience.

We spent two nights and wished we had a week more.... a fabulous place to stay. Spacious rooms, incredible views, gracious staff. Although there were other people staying at the villa, we hardly ever saw anyone unless it was at breakfast (which was DELICIOUS). There are two pools on the property, just a great place to read, swim and enjoy... More

My husband and I have just returned from a wonderful, 7 night stay in this beautiful hotel. The reception from the staff was superb - we were given a tour of the property and facilities - and we were delighted with our charming room, which was spacious and immaculately clean. The hotel has beautiful grounds with stunning views of the... More

We spent 4 nights here - it is absolutely gorgeous.Their directions are quite good - it was about 35 minutes from Perugia. You do need car as it is remote. We arrived a little early but our room was ready which was a nice surprise. A generous fruit plate was delivered just as we were unpacking. Th hotel has two... More

We stayed here in July 2014 to celebrate a wedding and the staff could not have been more helpful and friendly. The setting is beautiful and tranquil, the rooms were all of a high standard (with some nice touches such as a basket with towels for the swimming pool and very good toiletries in the bathroom) and kept very clean... This is a wonderful place to stay. So peaceful and relaxing, yet relatively easy to reach local restaurants, villages and other places of interest for example the Perugina chocolate factory is only 25 minutes away. Initially we assumed we would be staying in the main villa, which is pictured on the website, so were rather surprised after checking in to... More

We have stayed at Monte Solare again and again the experience has lived up to our high expectations. The staff are attentive but not intrusive, the location is unbelievable - even when it rains and the accommodation and the food are first rate. This year we had some disappointing weather but this enabled us to visit not just Panicale and... More

This hotel is in a beautiful setting in Umbria. The level of service is outstanding, with all wanting to insure the guests happiness. This is the perfect hotel for couples wanting a remote relaxing retreat. It is remote so I would suggest full board as the next closest decent restaurants are 30 minutes drive. Our family of four, two children... More

We spent 7 days in this hotel in June 2014. The staff of this hotel doesn't know what "approximation" means ! They just know the "Perfection" concept. Everything was made to assure that you had a stay without problem, without imperfection. As soon as you ask for something, they do their best to satisfy you, and the result is impressive:... More

Really liked this hotel, there is plenty to like about it. Our classic room was well appointed and clean but very warm at night unless the windows were wide open. The air conditioning didn't seem to be particularly effective. Also the walls were quite thin so we could hear a lot of what was going on next door. If we... More

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
On a remote hillside above Lake Trasimeno, Villa di Monte Solare nestles in gorgeous grounds punctuated by cypress trees and fountains a few miles from Perugia. An enchanting villa, that for centuries was home to an aristocratic family, it is now a delightful boutique hotel with an excellent restaurant, two swimming pools, a tennis court and a pampering spa.Rooms and suites at Villa di Monte Solare are distributed between the villa, complete with marble fireplaces, terracotta floors and antique furniture, or in one of the 350-year-old farmhouses on the estate, also beautifully furnished but with a more rustic feel. Wander around the walled Italian garden and discover the chapel. Then, head to the pool and take in the sweeping views of the Muserale Valley and the Mongiovino hills.Take a cooking class with the chef to learn authentic Italian cuisine and then try to match a wine to your dish with a wine tasting session. In between swimming, relaxing, spa treatments and tennis find some time to visit some of the nearby villages for a feel of Umbrian life. End your day with delicious Italian cuisine in Villa di Monte Solare’s restaurant. ... more   less
