I agree with previous reviews that this B&B needs a new cleaner and much T.L.C. The stairs going up to the rooms were really dirty as was the floor in the bedroom, I stood on something gunky in the carpet and had to wear shoes in the room after that. There were dirty handprints on the walls and cracks in... More

I was surprised to read recent reviews on this guesthouse. We stayed here for 2 nights having been booked in by Contours Walking Holidays. The room was clean although there was some mould in en-suite which given that it is a Georgian building was not too bad. The en-suite was tiny and we were offered the use of the bathroom... More

I agree with Ronnie453 this BnB is filthy both inside and out-and having to wear shoes in a bedroom because you dare not chance bare foot is disgraceful..Someone who knows the industry could knock this place into shape in no time at all and a housekeeper of any worth would be proud to put her name to the Durbeyfield. All... More

This b&b was a throwback to the 1970s. A twin room at the top of two flights of stairs that haven't seen a Hoover in months & the room itself cannot have been thoroughly cleaned in much longer. The carpet was too dirty to walk on without shoes, thick dust on the furniture, wardrobe doors thick with greasy hand prints... More

We have stayed in Durbeyfield twice but it's basic cleanliness lets itself down and they don't seem to care! On a positive note the food here is good, reasonably priced, nice fresh fish specials every day and Durbeyfield has a great location in West Bay The negatives - difficult to park as car park full of locals visiting the bar... The website does not truly reflect this guesthouse. If you want cheap and cheerful and are not bothered by cleanliness then this place will suit you. We found this to be unacceptable to the point of wearing shoes in our room all the time. The food is lovely as are the staff but we wouldn't return due to the lack... More

A party of 9 of us enjoyed a Sunday lunch - my roast pork was lovely and came with crunchy crackling and good roasties, my husabnd's cod was beautifully cooked. Others had the belly pork - and said it was excellent. Much later on in the day, we were looking for some supper but the kitchen had closed some 20... More

Lunch at the Quaterdeck Tavern proved to be most enjoyable. Initially called in for drinks ( tiny little bar ), then stayed for a light lunch. A selection from the 'starters' menu ,small tasty portions, was served after about 20 - 25 mins whilst we sat outside in the sun. Definitely will return if at West Bay again.

Another review from 2 more bikers! Having been turned away from the New Inn at Eype after a very long ride (they told us they closed at 6.30 pm on a Sunday, are closed on Monday, but we could come back on Tuesday!!!) and spent a lonely evening in the Smugglers Bar at the hotel in Eype (no other customers!),... As two leather clad bikers knocking on a door you sometimes wonder what reception you're going to get. As it turned out you get a very friendly one. Not only that but the rooms are clean and very tidy, the price was reasonable and our stay was good. Breakfast is from a large menu and you get to choose whatever... More
