The thing about larger Bed & Breakfast's or guest Houses is that there is less pride in what is offered. Room 2 had great bathroom because it had a bath but was above the bar and was therefore rather noisy. Breakfast was workable but not remotely special. West Bay is rather run down and this B & B, which I... More

We were in West Bay visiting some friends and enquired about a room so we could stay the night. It is beautiful building but is starting to look a little tired now inside and could do with a little spruce up to freshen it up a bit. The staff were really friendly and nothing was too much trouble for them.... More

House is situated conveniently to the beach and quayside. On arrival the house looks in very bad repair. Going up to room ,shabby worn stair carpets.scuffed paint work. Floors uneven. Water tank looked as though it had leaked.Leaving a rusty pipe to look at and flaking paint coming away from the ceiling . Old bedding ,and springs could be felt... More

Seems to be struggling between being a guesthouse and a pub. The colours chosen for the decor (grey in dining room, old golden brown in bedroom) do not help in a building of this age and add to feeling of being a little grubby. It genuinely could do with a good clean but the decor makes it look worse than... More

Room above kitchen pub. Floor in room, bath tub, tables and placements in dining room not clean. Bed saggy, with box spring on floor. Peeling paint on windows and walls of room. Smelly from kitchen noticeable in my room. Overpriced for quality. Never meet host; not greeted upon arrival. Do not recommend.

Warm welcome, excellent food and beer, ideally placed with car parking. Yes the room we were in could benefit from a refurbish, and blackout curtains(we were above the carpark/beer garden), but it had fresh linen, a comfy bed, a courtesy tea tray, modern TV, good wifi and a bigger ensuite bathroom than we have at home. The breakfast was everything... More

We have just returned from our annual "Walking Weekend" on the Dorset coast. We were a party of 8 that stayed at the Durbeyfield on the weekend of the 5th-7th of June. The staff were excellent and always eager to please. We dined in on the Friday and everyone ordered across an extensive range of choices. Generous portions. I recommend... More

We initially booked for 2 nights but the room was so bad we could only stay one. The staff were lovely and friendly and the food good but the room needed a good deep clean and refurb. The bedding was clean and I cleaned the bathroom myself with flash wipes that I went out and bought. The dining room had... More

Stayed at Durbyfield in April this year for 3nites and loved the family atmosphere. They couldn't do enough for me and were constantly concerned i went on my day without breakfast! A brewed coffee was always awaiting me in the mornings. Such was their care that one morning as i waited for my ride a seagull pooped on my clothes.... More
