A party of 9 of us enjoyed a Sunday lunch - my roast pork was lovely and came with crunchy crackling and good roasties, my husabnd's cod was beautifully cooked. Others had the belly pork - and said it was excellent. Much later on in the day, we were looking for some supper but the kitchen had closed some 20... More

Lunch at the Quaterdeck Tavern proved to be most enjoyable. Initially called in for drinks ( tiny little bar ), then stayed for a light lunch. A selection from the 'starters' menu ,small tasty portions, was served after about 20 - 25 mins whilst we sat outside in the sun. Definitely will return if at West Bay again.

Another review from 2 more bikers! Having been turned away from the New Inn at Eype after a very long ride (they told us they closed at 6.30 pm on a Sunday, are closed on Monday, but we could come back on Tuesday!!!) and spent a lonely evening in the Smugglers Bar at the hotel in Eype (no other customers!),... As two leather clad bikers knocking on a door you sometimes wonder what reception you're going to get. As it turned out you get a very friendly one. Not only that but the rooms are clean and very tidy, the price was reasonable and our stay was good. Breakfast is from a large menu and you get to choose whatever... More

I stay at the Durbeyfield often. It is a quirky place. If you like a sterile impersonal place with everything in it's place, then this place is not for you. (eg: holiday inn) However, if you prefer a casual laid back, friendly home from home, with a few flaws, then give it a try. It's not to everyone's taste! Yes,... More

Room was dirty, door to shower hanging off, it was badly furnished, the whole 3 days we were there not once was room cleaned or bathroom cleaned ! And to top it all they were painting and rubbing paint off windows outside with our window open so all dust came in , no one cleaned it . Dining room shabby... More

Had the most delicious meal at the Quarterdeck Tavern of the Durbeyfield. The freshly caught lemon sole was the best I have ever had served with new potatoes and a selection of fresh veg and the basket of crusty bread and olive oil with balsamic vinegar was an added bonus, all washed down with a very nice glass of two... Several of our family stayed here in April as we were going to a wedding. Our room was tiny and very dated with cheap furniture. Shower room was minuscule. This could have been acceptable if it was good value. it wasn't. I now wish I had taken a photograph to add to this review.

This was a dive trip with 8 of us staying in one hotel. The rooms are nice (the stairs are steep) and clean when we arrived. Nice big bathroom with shower and bath (not all rooms are en-suite). Pub downstairs is very good and reasonably priced and the restaurant is very good. Veggie sausages for breakfast - even if some... More

We received a very warm welcome here but our room was on the top, attic floor and, whilst being very spacious, was in dire need of refitting. The bathroom was large and bare and could have looked quite attarctive with a few nautical scenes or bits and pieces.Tea and coffe- making was available but, after several attempts to make a... More
