We visited The George yesterday for lunch - there were seven of us in total. Everything went off to a good start with the drinks. We are a fairly patient group as we were on our holidays but to be honest a 45 minute wait for food with no warning that it was going to take this long is a... More

My wife, son and I have just been for an evening meal at the George. The 3 of us all enjoyed every mouthful of exceptionally well cooked food. The portions were huge but we managed to eat all on the plate. On the next table were a family of 4 and on asking whether all was ok t he "man"... More

We revisited The George at the weekend and had another great stay. The room refurbishments have been carried out beautifully, the room had lovely views over the harbour and the bed was very comfortable. We enjoyed a delicious dinner (Dover sole & scallops with chorizo) on Saturday evening and the Sunday lunch carvery was excellent and plentiful. The staff were... More

Am local, so didn't stay here; just had lunch there last week with a friend. Just fancied hamburger & chips, as I noticed on their website 'Gourmet Hamburgers.' The staff at order were extremely slow (they were concerned with a customer who's credit card hadn't worked.) & not interested in us. The burgers took 15 mins. to arrive (we had... More

It's not a bad pub,but it can be a little pretentious. Beer very good but the food i think is a bit steep.Nice and Handy for the rest of Westbay, and its nice to sit outside at night although you have to cross a road from the garden to the pub to get a drink. Kiddie-winks please take care.

We had a one night stay at the weekend just over a week ago. We booked directly with the hotel and our rate included breakfast the following morning. The rooms have been recently refurbished to a very high standard, and there are thoughtful touches such as blackout blinds in addition to curtains, essential for west facing rooms. However, I feel...
