We stayed 2 nights during a 3 night stopover in the Faroes on the way by ferry to Iceland. It provided an excellent base from which to explore some of the remoter parts. Room accommodation was fairly basic and functional, but comfortable enough. Self service breakfast was continental style with reasonable choice. Dinner was 2 course without choice, but tasty... More

We were booked into this guesthouse for two nights because the area is so wonderful. Arrived when it was pouring rain out and struggled into the reception only to find out our room was in the annex, a building above the guesthouse with a view to the fields behind it. OK, struggled back to the car with our bags and... More

We had the superior bedroom in the annex (which is the building adjacent to the main building). The views in the village are superb. The rooms were very comfortable and clean. If you happen to wake up at sun rise, it is beautiful to hear absolute pin-drop silence in such a tranquil environment. The drive to the village is a... More

We loved staying here. It feels like the end of the world as it is so remote and beautiful. The guesthouse is family owned and very welcoming. We wish we had stayed for longer. Although the bedrooms from the outside look a bit dull and are separate from the main block they are so cosy and comfortable. Such wonderful views... More

The only problem with Gjaargardur is that it is tucked away in a rather remote little corner of the Faroe Islands. It wouldn't have been a problem if our plane, due mid-afternoon, had been on time, but it was seven hours late and so we had to drive from Vagar airport to Gjogv, about an hour and a quarter maybe... We stayed 2 nights at Gjaargardur Guesthouse, and participated in the Faroe Dinner and Dance event, which was a really memorable experience! Food was very well-prepared, the staff were friendly and professional, the Faroese singer Holgar and chain dance experience was very special. The scenery around the guesthouse was also one of the best. I would also like to thank... More

This is the best hotel in the north of the Faroe Islands though there is not much choice. But, with this warm friendly atmosphere, who's complaining? The buffet dinner (not every night) is a great choice including local specialties like dried fermented lamb, pilot whale meat and blubber to try. The rooms in the main building are like in a... More

It is not luxurious. It is not elegant and ritzy. It is not perfect. But.... it's sooooooo charming!!! Gjogv as a village is a treasure! Very, very sweet! There is one gem here, the Gjáargardur! It reminded me of bygone areas. It is full of charm and no other place in the Faroe Islands can offer you such a feeling... More

Gjaargardur Guesthouse is a gem in a spectacular setting!! Gjogv is a small village set in stunning scenery in a remote part of the remote Faroe Islands. It is accessed by a high mountain road. We had an excellent, comfortable, well equipped room with wonderful views in the separate accommodation block. We had tasty evening meals at the hotel on... More

We spent a week here in June 2013, and it turned out to be a perfect choice both as a base for exploring the northern islands and for the first class service provided by the staff. We can't speak for the accommodation in the main hotel, but the superior rooms in the separate building above the hotel are very comfortable;... More
