This is the equal best hotel we have ever stayed in, although hotel doesn't do it justice. We were met with a very warm welcome and participated in the welcoming ceremony - lighting the lamp and ringing the bell, and cooling face cloths and cold drinks - the start of the attention to detail. The staff were always on hand,... More

A lot of the other reviews have already covered the resort very well, so to summarise for us: The reasons why you should stay there: 1) amazing detached bungalows with all mod-cons and a small private plunge pool 2) large amount of land given small number of rooms, which you can cycle around on the bikes provided for each room... We had 3 nights at this terrific resort. Sadly, we only used it as a base for local touring and once we arrived we really wished we had had a chance to have more time there. The accommodation is superb, facilities excellent, the grounds are lovely, the food is very good and the staff are an absolute delight. We only... More

The wonderful warm welcome at this hotel demonstrates their personal and attentive customer service. The main house is an old governor's residence and this is where the bar and dining room are. The spacious villas are dotted around the huge grounds and you are taken by buggy to your villa. Each villa is huge with large bedroom, bathroom, sitting room,... More

This property is beautiful, villas arranged around rice paddies, quite private. Lovely reception area with breezy bar and patio downstairs and dining upstairs in a colonial plantation building. There was a large and beautiful pool with a small gym nearby. Each villa has two bikes to use and walking around the rice paddies is also very nice. Because of distance... More

First I liked to highlight their warm welcome and the customer service. Not only that all the villas are nicely arranged in a village looking surrounding. All villas had two bicycles which we used to roam around the land. There were so many peacocks and we enjoyed the view a lot. food were nice and delivered on time. Really appreciate... More

One of the most beautiful places I have ever been to. The service was exemplary and the rooms were exquisite. Reservations were hard to get and its obvious why! The food could have been a bit better and they need more servers in the restaurant.

This was the best place I stayed of my long planned 5 destination honeymoon tour. Everything we experienced in this unique hotel from the ceremonial check -in to most friendly check out was unforgettable. All amenities and services was well above standard. Delicious food and cheerful and attentive staff is a trademark of Ulagalla. Words can not describe this place.... More

This is a very pretty spot located down an awful dirt road - a total surprise. Located on a 50 acre rice paddy the hotel consists of a series of villas spread out over the grounds. We stayed in the only two room suite located right on the edge of the paddy with a long view back to the central... More

My family and I spent two night in this lovely place. The 20 chalets are spread over 50 acres of paddy fields and woods which once belonged ( maybe still) to Sri Lankan gentry the Panabokkes. In fact, the main building which comprises the lobby, dining and reception areas are in the old house or "Walauva". The Chalets are tastefully... More
