After arriving in Colombo from a long flight from Europe, and 6 hours drive, 5 female friends, we arrived in heaven. Friendly reception, great great rooms with pool and very nice food. The chef was trying new receipes and with great success. It was great that they brought breakfast to our rooms. Gourgeous rooms with living room and big bathroom.... More

We aproached Ulagalla after a 16 hours (almost sleepless) travel from Europe, including a 3,5 hours drive from Colombo Airport. Not the best odds, however, after leaving the main road we continued on a small dusty gravel road passing small villages and the expectations went down. But then the doors went open at the gate and paradise started. Welcome ceremony,... More

We really enjoyed our 3 days at Ulagalla. The main thing that we loved is the setting - acres and acres of stunning countryside and lots of wildlife. Everything is very spread out so all the chalets are very private and we really enjoyed using the bicycles which the hotel provided to get around the resort. The pool area is... More

This is a really fabulous place, the staff are delightful, the chalets fantastic, the setting absolutely beautiful. Unlike others we had no problems with the bikes -excellent physiotherapy for a newly replaced knee!- or the buggies. But oh dear, the food...billed variously as 'gourmet' and 'fine dining' unfortunately the restaurant falls some way short of its own aspirations. The breakfasts... More

Last year I had only an afternoon, night and morning and didn't want to go, so this year I stayed for 5 nights. It gave me ample time to do 2 day excursions and have lots of relaxation time in the lovely big pool and grounds. The accommodation is fantastic and although the lodges are set in 50 acres of... It is difficult to rate this hotel The chalets are magnificent; you cannot hope for anything better. However they are far from the central facility and if you are not a bike rider (free bikes are offered with each chalet) , you need the service of a buggy with driver to take you to eat, etc. This service is haphazard... Quiet charm says it all really. From the charming "greeters" to the other staff. You'll love the property, almost a bird sanctuary (maybe it is!) with bungalows spread out strategically. Golf carts ferry you around. Wonderful pool area. Only downside: the menu needs a little work. Stick to the local dishes. Otherwise, you'll be well pleased.

My partner and I spent 4 nights here and left feeling completely satisfied and relaxed. On arrival the commitment to service hits you and remains constant throughout. Beautiful natural surroundings from well kept lawns to raw jungle around your 'glass house' chalet, with several ponds/lakes. Beautiful flowering plants and trees. The chalets are very comfortable with plunge pool jacuzzi, loads... More

We have spent several days at this beautiful idyllic, relaxing and unique hotel. strongly endorse the many positive comments about the setting and facilities. We are aware that in the past there have been some criticisms about the hotels restaurants and food. We can only say that our dining experience has also been 5* - delicious food, cooked using local... More
