Decided to go to the Woolpack for lunch may bank holiday Monday. They had a limited menu from the bbq, the chicken wings were delicious, however the burger was unidentifiable and dense. Overall the meal was tasteless and expensive at £85 for 4 beers 8 chicken wings and 4 burgers with roasted new potatoes. Watch out for the service charge... More

Booked a rare Sunday pub lunch out today, which we were really looking forward to. It just didn't quite live up to what we were expecting. Our table wasn't great; right by the loos and a thoroughfare through the restaurant. It was chilly too, as a door to the garden was open, and the weather was not what the morning... More

For a wonderful weekend, in an idyllic setting, you won't get better than the Woolpack. For dinner, a fabulous chateaubriand with a great bottle of red, recommended by the landlord Megs was nothing short of superb with the wood fired oven roast potatoes a particular highlight. Throughout the weekend the attentive staff were happy to help with anything we needed.... More

Had a lovely meal at the Woolpack. We had the Sunday Menu, Soup, Potted chicken, Bag of Bread, Crispy Squid for starters, followed by Baked Cod, Caesar Salad with Chicken, Roast of the Day, Bangers and Mash, Dessert was Sticky Toffee Pudding and the Three English Cheers etc and it was the best we had in year's. Every one around... More

Stopped off here for a lite bite and a drink, the pub from outside is vey inviting, inside is equally the same staff friendly and welcoming, we ordered our drinks and sat by the lovely open fire, sadly there was no lite bites on offer as even the sandwich came with a cup of soup and a side of chips,... Hi there, Wonderful that you stopped in for a drink and that you think the pub is inviting as we do keep up the standards of the pub in and out and clearly its working, so that's great. The fire is also our lovely winter warmer for customers to sit back and relax. As for lite bits, we do have... More

My partner and I visited regularly and normally spend our Friday lunchtime with the table reserved by the lovely fireplace. Alas the weeks the we have been going we have missed Megs the warm and friendly manager. I am afraid to say the food is no longer the quality that we loved when Ryan was the exemplary chef and Billy... More

This used to be a lovely pub with fresh delicious food. Visited again a few times since we moved to winchester, both for Lunch and dinner. Food is not great - nothing fresh on the menu, lots of meat, appalling crispy squid. Worst of all was that at dinner they had very loud pop music which was completely unnecessary. The... More

Hi there, I am very sorry you feel this way, our food is fresh in almost everyday and we do source food locally where possible, our menu's are constantly changing to accommodate seasons, along with specials boards which are updated daily/weekly. As for our pop music we have an Ipod with various playlists and again I'm sorry it was not... More

Visited with 4 adults, one with a disability, a 6 year old, a 3 year old and an 8 month old baby. Service slow. Baby changing facilities nonexistent. Offered a grubby mat, no surface to put it on so changed baby's nappy kneeling on wet tiled floor of ladies. Disabled access very difficult. Asked about disabled toilet facilities. Told that... Hi there, I will admit that we do not have disabled toilets but we do have access due to the foundations and the structure in which this Grade 1 listed building pub was first built, therefore limiting the amount of alterations that we are allowed to make to the fabric of the building. Also unfortunately we do do our best... More

Was given a gift voucher by friends. Table reservation made on-line, but as no confirmation received I telephoned to ensure availability and was offered fireside table in the bar. The aloof landlord (?) appeared not to be aware of booking and we were given a table in the restaurant area (the fireside table had been taken). Lipstick was present on... More
