Visited with 4 adults, one with a disability, a 6 year old, a 3 year old and an 8 month old baby. Service slow. Baby changing facilities nonexistent. Offered a grubby mat, no surface to put it on so changed baby's nappy kneeling on wet tiled floor of ladies. Disabled access very difficult. Asked about disabled toilet facilities. Told that... Was given a gift voucher by friends. Table reservation made on-line, but as no confirmation received I telephoned to ensure availability and was offered fireside table in the bar. The aloof landlord (?) appeared not to be aware of booking and we were given a table in the restaurant area (the fireside table had been taken). Lipstick was present on... More

Went here for my 50th, and was quite disappointed. Had thought of going into Winchester, but decided to stay local. Eight of us had the private room, which was ideal, with a small area outside to take drinks before dinner. The service was attentive and staff very informed re the menu. But the let down was the food - it... More

What a fantastic experience! My husband and I were recommended this gem by friends, and they weren't wrong. Superb beer, fantastic food and friendly staff. We loved the fact that the chef came round the restaurant too. We will definitely be back soon.

We stayed in Quail and found that the loo roll holder was falling off the wall, the loo seat was loose, the lid fell off the bin, there was black mould on the sealant in the shower and when we were putting our clothes away in the drawers under the bed we found a blood stained pillow. All this made... More

Took a chance and just googled. Warm welcome, laid back and very accommodating. Lovely rooms and really good food. Log fire and the sun setting over the hill. Good ales, useful wine list and good advice from Megs. Fish pie was quite superb!

We booked a last minute two night stay -(sun/mon) and loved every minute! Set in the most beautiful Hampshire countryside, this pub provides excellent service and great beer - according to my husband - especially the local ale "the Woolpack". The breakfast was faultless with plenty of choice and the restaurant food we had was delicious. Our room on the... More

A colleague and I booked this hotel last minute for a conference in Basingstoke and so got a good deal. The staff are very friendly and attentive, evening meal and breakfast had a good choice and were very nice. If you've got more money than me and enjoy a good bottle of wine then judging by the list you wouldn't... More

We booked into as it was close to Grange Park and weren't disappointed. The room was well furnished and comfortable and the selection of wines and ales were great. The staff were friendly and helpful and the breakfast was first rate!

Maybe we were unlucky to be eating on such a busy weeknight, maybe the chef was on a night off, maybe the kitchen staff were not in the best mood, but whatever, we still paid the price that we would have done if there is such a thing as a "good" night at the Woolpack. The Pub is pleasant outside... More
