Just returned from a weekend at the Eltermere Inn. What a beautiful hotel in a stunning location. We stayed in the stone Arthur room. It was very nice, clean and cosy. The bathroom was lovely. It did not have a bath, only a shower but this was not a problem as it was hot and powerful. The only very small... More

Beautiful place in a wonderful location. Great food, ambience and style. Suits us perfectly. We come a couple of times a year for weekends, great all year around. Eating well cooked and well judged food by the fire in the cozy bar is a pleasure. No nonsense service which is just perfect.

We came for the second time to this gem of a place in Ambleside. This time we were celebrating our 1st anniversary and stayed for 2 nights. The room was cosy and the novelty for us was having a roll top bath IN the bedroom. We spent 1.5 hours in it listening to music and relaxing. Its inspired us to... More

We returned to the Eltermere Inn for a weekend break. Once again it proved to be a wonderful and relaxing place to 'kick back' and recharge the batteries. The atmosphere is very homely, real fires and comfortable luxurious surroundings. The real attention to detail makes this place special, with home made biscuits in the rooms and home made cake for... a lovely hotel with friendly and professional staff and service. Located a stones throw from some of the best walks in Lakeland this is a must do for afternoon tea following the delights of the district. Reasonably priced and good quality food and beverages make this place on of our favourites.

It is in a wonderful setting with the Langdales to the rear and overlooking Elterwater at the front. It is a wonderful old building with great gardens. The restaurant was good and the staff were really friendly and helpful.

After many wonderful previous visits we decided this was the place to spend our New Year's Eve and what a great decision it turned out to be. As always we had our complimentary tea and cake in the lounge on arrival (we had this in the grounds overlooking the lake during our summer stay, but it was a bit chilly... More

Returned yesterday from a Birthday Break at the Eltermere Inn courtesy of my lovely partner and can honestly say it was just the perfect romantic and relaxing getaway break we both needed. From entering the front door to leaving we both felt completely welcomed and at home until we reluctantly left yesterday morning. The ambiance, food, wine, staff and Proprietors... More

Spent 3 splendid midweek days here in November, a return trip after another lovely stay in July. The hotel itself is in a beautiful setting with fantastic walking straight out of the door. The hotel is really well appointed with an excellent fire warmed bar and very comfortable lounge and dining areas. The rooms we stayed in were excellent. Food... More

A hotel that has come to rely more on its looks than to exercise any charm. While significant attention has been paid to decor, scant regard is paid to hospitality at The Eltermere Inn, with staff interactions conducted in a cold, transactional manner: things are competently but joylessly managed. Similarly, a tastefully decorated bedroom that promised a cozy night's sleep... More

CocklyMoss, Owner at The Eltermere Inn, responded to this review

Dear Chris B Hen Crag is our smallest room & priced accordingly. Eltermere, an 18th century building, has it's own character which the majority our our guests enjoy. Regrettably, for whatever reason, you chose not to use our bars, lounges or dining rooms during your brief stay here -- I can only apologize, therefore, if your experience at breakfast was... More
