We only visited the Eltermere Inn on the way back from a walk in the little Langdale valley. It was quite nice inside and the food was very good. The bar was well stocked and the service was good with a pleasant girl serving. The views are very nice across Eltermere it's self and the gardens are very nice.

The setting, food, and staff are all top notch. It's a lovely Georgian house, which is quirky but very comfortable. The food is modern, but not overly-complicated, and the views and location are difficult to beat. The main drawback was a lack of shower in our room. Given that our room was billed as "Superior Plus", and that it was... More

Stayed for a few nights for my husband's birthday the other week. The hotel is in a beautiful quiet location, with lovely gardens and wonderful views. We stayed in Tom Heights room which was very nice, maybe a little small for a superior room but had everything we needed with lovely decor and views across the fells. The hotel has... More

We recently stayed for two nights at The Eltermere Inn. The hotel was in a perfect location and had pretty views of the lake. We really enjoyed sitting in the garden with afternoon tea or pre-dinner drinks and the food in the dining room, both nights, was superb, beautifully cooked and presented. We really enjoyed our stay overall, but felt... More

We chose to stay here en route from Aberdeen to Gloucestershire, even though it was perhaps more out of the way than some other options. What a great decision! We had booked Loughrigg, with its view of the water and fells. It's a wonderful room. If you deserve a treat, then go for it! The much mentioned tea and homemade... More

Fantastic food, great service in beautiful surroundings. Sorry to miss Mark and Ruth this time but we were looked after very well indeed. Be prepared to pay for a really good stay anywhere in this area. It is definitely worth it, if you can afford it.

This hotel has been beautifully refurbed and it's location is perfect if you want to stay somewhere a little more remote. It's our second visit to this hotel in the last 4 years and I don't know why we don't stay here every year when we visit. All of the food is great, we particularly like the ambience of the... More

We had a fabulously comfortable stay, room at the top of the Inn with exceptional views. We were made very welcome with complimentary tea/coffee and cake. We had a lovely well cooked meal, tasty and substantial from the Bar menu. Delightful and would definitely stay again but for longer.

I'm trying to think of a reason why I should not give the Eltermere Inn an excellent mark. For over 40 years I've visited the Lake District, climbed all over the world and stayed in some fantastic hotels. The Eltermere Inn is up there with the best of them - romantic location in the heart of the Lakes, very friendly... More
