The staff had everything prepared for us when we arrived, table overlooking Elterwater, flowers on the table for my wife, and the meal was delicious and worth every penny. The hotel staff were courteous, friendly and helpful. Will come back again when on holiday in the lakes

Visited a few weeks back, in all honesty I can't recall what we ate, hence its not an out of the world memorable experience. Still it's pretty decent. The restaurant is perfectly suited for fine dining. I have on another occasion last year eaten in the bar, again the ambiance is perfectly fit for purpose. Of course the views and... More

What a find, beautiful setting, elegant rooms, and delicious food, what more could you ask for in this beautiful part of the country. Nothing was too much trouble, and the staff were friendly, can't recommend enough. We would certainly return

People seem to like this a lot. It is good relative to the Lake District but would not compete South of Birmingham. Maybe other rooms are better than Neddy Bogle. Comments were invited. I proposed that the owners look at the new Premier Inn rooms, which have superb beds, power point beside Madame's make up/hair mirror for hairdryer and complementary... More

We've been to this gem in The Lakes many, many times and never ever have we been disappointed with the Family, the staff or the food. It has always been an absolute delight visiting the hotel. The atmosphere is always nice and people are pleasant and helpful.

We have always loved visiting the Eltermere for a drink on the lawn and dinner sometimes. As it was our 30th wedding anniversary we decided to stay there. The room was 'superior plus' and was at ground level and right beside an exit which suited us perfectly for little necessary trips outside for the dogs! Stone Arthur is the room... More

The Eltermere is in an excellent - accessible but quiet - location. The surrounding landscape and walks superb in the heart of the Lakes. The grounds overlook Elterwater and surrounding fells. The decor of the hotel is impeccable - service attentive but discreet - food at all times very good with superb choice. The bar is welcoming and extremely characterful.... More

BEAUTIFUL, romantic, peaceful and comfortable hotel in a tiny pretty village in the Lakes, hidden away from the tourist traffic. The hotel has real old English charm but at the same time everything is newly refurbished. The owners have invested a lot in everything from the bedrooms, to the little gastro-pub with the log fire, to the breakfast dining area.... More

Such a perfect spot the hotel exudes peace and calm and with the excellently kept beers and top quality food its really got a lot going for it. Its just a shame about the beds and how our calm polite comment was handled...when you book a superior room you really do expect a bed thats longer than 5' 6" and... More

We are just so utterly disappointed with both this review and the one above/below. Both written within hours of your departure by two members of the same party of four. You arrived late, gone 11pm, off the train from London. Whilst this is not an issue at all, it would be common courtesy to inform a quiet, small country hotel... More

My wife and I are regular visitors to the area, but unfortunately we will not be staying here again. We spent three nights in a "Superior Plus" room (Stone Arthur) but have to say there was nothing Superior or Plus about the beds, which were two singles zipped together. This was fairly disappointing as the rest of the hotel was... More
