We loved our stay at the Brittania Inn -- it's quaint location surrounded by the hills of the Lake District where sheep outnumber people 22 to 1. The rooms are comfortable with simple and extremely clean ensuite baths. Although our room was on top of the restaurant and pub, we barely knew they wee there. The breakfast was fantastic! If... Having been double booked at a B and B, we'd panicked before trying the Britannia who came to the rescue. We have eaten and drunk here lots of times so were thrilled to be able to stay. Room was cosy and delightful, and the bathroom was fine with a great shower. Food tasty and my husband sampled all but one... More

The Britannia Inn is a legend in South Lakeland. It is a traditional, tiny, building in an idyllic setting on the village green in Elterwater. You need to leave your modern pre-conceptions and expectations at home before staying here as the building is a complete compromise. Guest rooms are clean and well presented and no two are the same. Downstairs... More

Excellent Pub with good accommodation. Really good pub food. Very convenient for many walks in the area. Great place to stay. Highly recommended. It does get vey busy so don't expect instant service for meals. Be patient, it's worth it..

Had a very enjoyable stay in the Britannia Inn last week. The sunshine definately helped and we spent the evening sitting comfortably outside. The bar meal was very tasty and our room had the most comfortable bed. Excellent value for money, right in the heart of the Lakes, for brilliant walks and views...would definately recommend.

If you know the Lakes, you know the Britannia. Just returned from a four night stay, and it was excellent in every regard. Really great food, which was always extremely quickly brought out despite the number of people eating, and the breakfasts as ever were fantastic. Unfailingly helpful and genuine courteous staff, even when faced with lots of customers. Looking... More

Stayed here two nights whilst walking the Cumbria Way. Twin room 8, was fine with a strange shower enclosure resembling a hip bath. But perfectly adequate. Room well appointed though it is also the fire escape route so could be an interesting experience in the event of a fire!! Decent selection of real ales though we stuck with the Coniston... More

Had dinner in their restaurant last night. Very large portions (ideal after a day on the fells) but the food was bland and rather tasteless which was a shame as the restaurant staff were very friendly and efficient and it could have been a great occasion. The beer was excellent. Also - it was strange to have to pay 10%... More

Easy going relaxed atmosphere. A 500 year old pub with accommodation- so the rooms are small but spotlessly clean. Staff very helpful and friendly. Food excellent quality. Location is perfect especially if your a walker, its right by the Langdales. We just had a great time - our 3rd visit- and will be back again soon.

Another night spent here, and once again not a single let down. Booked it late afternoon and drove straight up. Arrived to happy friendly staff, great beer and some the best food money can buy. The room was clean, comfortable and more than enough room for my partner, me and Cooper my husky. Highly recommend to everyone. Don't hesitate, just... More
