4 of 5 stars Reviewed yesterday NEW

Stayed for 1 night while in the lakes, were lucky that was beautiful evening so could sit outside as inside rather small. Food was British pub food at its best with the best sticky toffee pudding ever! Rooms were small (as to be expected in an old building) but modernised tastefully. Good breakfast but shame no Haggis! Would definitely stay... More

Nice evening meal outside. Food of good standard and stayed for deserts. All nicely prepared and presented. Seemed a bit crowded in the bar area which allowed dogs. The restaurant area seemed quieter.

The bar was busy because the weather was inclement so we elected to dine in the restaurant. There is a 10% supplement for eating there (this is not a gratuity). The meal was excellent and well served by pleasant and attentive staff. The hotel is somewhat dated, but this seemed to add to its atmosphere. Superb location.

We visited here after a long walk along Lingmore Fell, which is a circular walk that starts from here. The bar staff are very friendly & accommodating & the front bar is very sweet & snug. This allowed us to strike up conversations with local ramblers (& Holly the Lab) which all made for a friendly experience. We booked a... More

Have been going to the Britannia Inn for many years and it never fails to disappoint . Staff are friendly and efficient food is good and whole atmosphere is a joy. Only downside is it is now becoming so busy that at times it can get claustrophobic

We dined at this lovely Inn on a gorgeous Summers Evening. It's a picture postcard inn, straight-off a chocolate box. The food was good and there is an excellent choice of beers. Definitely worth a visit.

The Britannia on a summers afternoon, what can I say? Lovely and sunny, plenty of seats, great for a pint and a spot of people watching. A real Lakeland watering hole.. Lunch is reliable, a bit pricey but worth it for the location. Watch for serving times and the afternoon bar menu, not as much variety as lunch.

four and half stars from us following our 3 night stay. as the photos on their website suggest, this is a nice traditional pub in an idyllic Lakeland setting. there are wonderful views and walks straight out of the front door. sitting on the front patio is a wonderful place to be for a drink and meal in the sunshine.... We stopped here in the middle of our walk for a quick drink. The choice of local real ales was excellent. It was just a shame that I was driving as our walk would've been postponed to stay here and sample more of the offerings. Great pub in a great location.

Stopped off here for lunch while walking because it was highly recommended and we weren't disappointed. The steak burger was possibly the best I've ever had and was cooked to perfection. I'd definitely like to go back for an evening meal in the future. Booking recommended at busy times as it's not very big!
