4 of 5 stars Reviewed May 8, 2012

Hotel was typical of a 4 or 5 star resort. Room was comfy, spotless and the bed was great. The resort, amenities, pool, service, etc. all very good. I have only one complaint and I seem to be the only one. The food, no matter where we ate whether it was breakfast or dinner, was mediocre at best. Not bad,... More

Let me start this long "review" by saying first off that for the most part we did enjoy our stay at the Fairmont Orchid, but then again after living on an 80 foot dive boat and diving in 72 to 75 degree water for eight days straight, just about any place warm with comfortable room, a nice beach, and/or a... Gazing out from our oddly austere executive ocean view suite, one can declare the Kohala Coast stunning, but that is nature's doing, not the Fairmont's. The resort has been stripped of everything it used to be - luxurious, private, sensual, and oh-so hospitable. The plastic kukui nut lei welcome and the corporate sales affairs during our entire stay verify the... More

First, it's a very nice place with good facilities, and I found the people friendly. For the price, I expect better facilities, and a more distinctive experience. However, since it was a corporate outing, we enjoyed it quite well anyway. We extended beyond the original dates to have some time alone. From what I could see, there were a number... More

Having just checked in from the Four Seasons Maui, we were a little spoiled, however the rooms are badly outdated, looking like 1990's era decoration. Peeling paint, leaking toilet and a badly functioning shower head showed lack of investment in the property. I typically enjoy Fairmont properties, however this one eeds a refresh. The grounds, pool, and landscape were beautiful... More

Our daughter spent part of her honeymoon here and told us to include it in our trip. She said to be sure to check out the appetizers on the patio in the evening when there was live entertainment and the lighting of the Tiki Lights ceremony. Boy was she right. We actually had the majority of our "dinners" by having... More

The rooms are comfortable and well appointed. We are here with a large confererence, nearly 800 people and I find the staff a little overwhelmed and under prepared, for example the shuttle that takes you to the golf course could not handle all the demands. Why not two? After a Four Seasons experience, I have not found too many smiley... More

First of all, I've stayed at the Four Seasons & the Mauna Lani here on the Big Island. I LOVE the Mauna Lani (probably biased because I got married there), but we have always gone to Brown's to have dinner on our previous visits and thought we should try the Orchid. I was a bit disappointed with our first impressions.... More

We stayed here 2 summers ago and were so pleased with the whole experience: our room, service, facility, luau, location, etc. A very lovely and elegant property on a beautiful beach fronted by a family friendly cove, great for snorkeling, swimming and canoeing. We just returned from another stay and were a little disppointed with the "value" equation this go... More

My wife and I spent a week here ending on April 25th. This was pretty much the end of spring break season, so the resort was calm and very accessible. We were fortunate enough to find a great deal on the Gold floor, and our entire week was fabulous. The breakfasts and afternoon snacks are outstanding. No problems finding chairs... More
