From the moment we arrived in the rain we were welcomed with umbrellas, big smiles and a refreshing welcome drink. The boat trip to the lodge was exciting, spotting the wildlife along the way. We cannot praise the Sukau Rainforest Lodge enough. Excellence in accommodation, clean and welcoming. Excellent meals, lots of variety & delicious. Excellent staff and nothing was... More

This place is a little bit of a trek to get to, but it's right on the river in the middle of the rainforest. The staff was very friendly and helpful and the accommodations overall were pretty nice. Keep in mind that this is in the jungle so there's no tv or internet in your room (the common area has... More

Almost everything has been said by previous reviewers. A great pace to stay, spotlessly clean. If you go on a night cruise take a torch and binoculars. There's free water refills. Only black tea available. There's gin but no tonic- just bring your own if you want. They encourage you to wear the sarongs they provide for dinner. No shoes... More

The nature is great, but the Sukau staff are even greater. Jackie's gourmet food complements his smiling face, happy and caring people such as Mas and Junior make you feel welcome, drivers Jumaidi and Romzi finesse boats along the Kinabatangan and guide Rahman shares interesting details and insights. The list of super things about the Lodge goes on and on.... More

We stayed here for 2 nights in February 2013. From the time we were picked up from the airport and dropped off at our hotel 3 days later we had been nothing but impressed. The staff and guides were fantastic, friendly and helpful. We saw a herd of elephants, extremely large crocodiles, orangutans, lots of birds and heaps of monkeys.... More

Tranquility of this place was enough for me; sitting up in the bird watching tower reading my book, waving to the ferry guys carrying a truck and catching a whisper of air... perfect! The guides' spotting ability is something else, ok they know where to look.. but am eternally indebted to my guide Yahya who remembered my early question of... More

This was the crescendo to a great trip. No air-conditioning, but lovely rooms, great food and helpful, warm staff. Most importantly, however, was the setting. On the river and on the boardwalk I saw dozens of animals, incluing Orang-utan, Stork-billed Kingfisher, Hornbills, Proboscis Monkeys and my best ever wildlife encounter with Elephants (alone on the boardwalk, inches from a baby... My husband and I stayed at the Sukau Rainforest Lodge with another couple and we all had an amazing time. Everything with this trip was perfect from the moment we were picked up at the airport in Sandakan, to the boat rides, the food, the accommodation, the staff, everything. We particularly enjoyed taking our meals on the jetty, in front... More

I stayed here for 3 days and 2 nights and had the best experience on a holiday that I've ever had. The staff were extremely helpful, the food great, the views spectacular and the most wildlife I've ever seen with excellent guides. There were an abundance of tours to choose from and in the end just not enough time to... More

We stayed here for 2 nights and had the best time. We loved the lodge, the staff, the food and everything about the place. Firstly the trip in was excellent, the guides Jupadi and Dean were excellent spotters and we were able to see orangutangs and crocodiles as well as monkeys and birds. Jupadi explained about life on the river... More
