We stayed 2 nights and found it very relaxing and enjoyable. We loved the river trip - watching the wildlife at such close quarters without all the hassle of mosquitoes, leeches etc is a real treat. The proboscis monkeys are very entertaining, we could watch them for hours - we were especially delighted when we went for a board walk... More

We spent 2 nights at Abai Jungle Lodge and its a Jewel of a place. From the moment we stepped off the boat we were met by the smiling faces of the staff and were made to feel genuinely welcomed. As other reviews have stated Abai is not a 5 star hotel but it was never set up to be... More

Abai Lodge has basic accommodations with beautiful wood paneled rooms and carved wooden furniture. Meals included a variety of good food, 24 hr. coffee and tea. Night walk along wooden boardwalks that can also be enjoyed during the day. Lookout tours to get the view from above. On the river at night you can see the fireflies lighting up trees... More

This lodge was one of our favourite stops during our tour of Borneo. It is basic but the accommodation very clean and practical, the atmosphere was very friendly and the food (in buffet form) tasty and varied. The fact that it’s inaccessible by road meant that this lodge was totally in keeping with the incredible surroundings of the river and... More

Yes, accommodation is basic (but clean) and the rooms are hot but you can’t beat the warm friendly atmosphere here. In fact it’s infectious; on our 3 week trip around Borneo this was the place that all visitors immediately started talking to each other which along with fantastic wildlife spotting made this a special stay. The food is local, plentiful... More

Abai Jungle Lodge is a great little spot along the river. The food is quite basic but this is understandable as there is no road access to here or the village on the other bank. The rooms are basic and clean. But you don't exactly come to the river to sit around in the room all day! The activities are... More

The accommodation is fine, quite comfortable and clean but the rooms get very hot. It is really humid here and no air -con or fridge in the room, just a fan which seems to circulate hot air. There is no-where to cool off, you are hot again in no time after a cold shower. The river cruises are very good,... More

Simple but clean, comfortable accomodation. A very well managed lodge which managed to cater for a large number of people without one ever feeling there were too many people there! This is done by carefully timing the boat trips, walks etc meaning that not everyone is in the restuarant at the same time. Food is ordinary but well cooked and... More

After a trip down the Kinabatangan river from STI's sister lodge (Kinabatangan Riverside Lodge) we were pleased to see a resort in much better condition. the rooms were similar in design but the bathrooms were bigger, the water was clean and the food was better (though still not spectacular). Still no aircon, but it was not too hot being on... More

After reading several reviews I had prepared the teenagers for "roughing it". We did the 4 day 3 night tour with SI Tours which included one night at turtle island(separate review) and 2 nights at Abai jungle lodge. We had an amazing time I loved the rustic feel of the rooms and the wildlife noises that surrounded us. Our family... More
