Agree with JaneyVs recent review. We stayed at Abai 2 nights. This lower river location is more remote than the larger lodge, over an hour away by boat from any road. They generate electricity but only ceiling fan in the rooms, no a/c. Wildlife is fabulous by boat and night walking. Proboscis monkeys are the star attraction as they are... More

We were here on our honeymoon (where they really made a special fuss off us). The rooms are fine, just basic but you don't spend much time in them. What makes the place is the location and staff. The trips up and down the river gives you a chance to spot wildlife in a different way to other trips. You... More

We visit the lodge july 2015. The quality of this lodge is ok. The rooms are clean and complete. We had a two rooms opened with a door between. The restaurant, buffet, is very good. The people is very helpful. I did a massage and it was very good. The area around the lodge also the view is excelent!

We had read a few reviews before coming here so we were expecting basic.... However, the room was very clean and spacious. No air con, but we didn't expect it in the jungle! A Big plus was the lack of Insects in the rooms. Food was a buffet: fish, meat, veg option and soup. Good quality overall. They even had... More

Our visit to the lodge was a great experience. Our guide, Lat, was very knowledgeable with regards to all jungle wildlife and all members of the team had an outstanding eye for spotting them. The food was amazing and breakfast in the middle of the rainforest was -- atmospheric to say the least! The evening river cruise was delightful, drinking... More

What a lovely place!! Rooms quite basic but full of charm and character. Have what you need and accommodate you nicely! Staff are fantastic and look after you like family! We had Lat looking after us and conducting our tours - he was a fantastic host! Location is out of this world, full or charm and character! Can't find fault... More

Abai Jungle Lodge was one of the 3 places we stayed in the "wild" in Borneo, and it gets the lowest score of the 3. We had expected a much better experience based on the reviews we see on TripAdvisor and also the cost was much higher than the other places, so you don't always get what you pay for... More

The chalets at this riverside lodge are perfectly acceptable - clean and comfortable with a fan to cool you down. The food was very good, with breakfast at the jungle platform with visiting macaques a highlight. The staff were friendly and the boat drivers excellent spotters. The chalets are set in an area of forest with board walk trails and... More

We stayed at the Abai Jungle Lodge for two nights in May 2015. The accommodation is simple, however the bedroom is spacious and adequately furnished with a ceiling fan although the bathroom is basic. You don't get air conditioning or hair dryers but you do get extremely friendly staff and good plentiful local food. The boardwalk around the jetty and... More

I have nothing but praise for this place and the people who run it. Comfy, non-AC rooms (fan), very adequate food, beer and sodas, outdoor breakfasts. Probably the best non-hotel stay my group had in all Borneo.
