My husband and I spent 2 nights here with my six year old daughter. The team at Abai are well organised (essential with the high turnover of visitors visiting on short stays) and the catering (buffet style) is simple but satisfying. Mealtimes are arranged around your cruise groups and tour guide. Some people may not enjoy the communal seating but... More

If you are tossing up between Sukau lodge and Abai - COME TO THIS ONE. Sukau is very commercial and there are lots of buildings and farms around so not as authentic and i can imagine animals in the area will be dwindling. Abai is a little basic so if your looking for luxury dont worry about it but if... More

We stayed two nights, which was enough to see all of the wildlife that we had come all of this way to see. The lodge is really well run, the staff are very friendly and could not do enough to help. The guides vary - the best are very very good at spotting wildlife...but not all. Luckily they all tend... More

We loved our two nights at Abai -- the rooms are comfortable, the showers are good, the food is tasty, and the setting is lovely. The boardwalk is great -- it helps you fill the downtime between boat rides, and we saw a lot from that boardwalk -- a troop of gray leaf monkeys came through and we were able... More

We spent one night at Abai Jungle Lodge after travelling by boat form the Sandakan boat jetty, after visiting the Orangutan Sanctaury at Sepilok. The boat trip takes about 1 hour, and as you cruise along the Lower Kinabatabgan River to Abai you get the chance to look for wildlife as you pass the pristine mangrove forests. We saw Proboscis... We recently had a lovely few days at the Abai Jungle Lodge. The individual lodges were of a good size, clean and the food was of a good standard. The lodge is an excellent location to be able to see much of the areas large variety of wild life from the comfort of a river boat. If you get the... More

We spent 2 nights here as part of our Borneo adventure. The lodge is simple, but clean. The main attraction is definitely the river adventures and fantastic guides. Leo, our guide was brilliant, even bringing along coffee and biscuits for our river excursions! He ensured we saw the very best of the local wildlife and made our visit truly memorable.... More

A really relaxed place with really great activities on the river. The guides provided by 'Borneo Adventure' were outstanding and the boat trips with tea watching the rainforest background. Rooms were a little basic but perfectly fine and the restaurant had a stunning view.

We stayed in the Lodge for two nights, before moving on to Kinabatangan Lodge. Everything was excellent. All the staff were very friendly and efficient. The rooms were spacious, clean and comfortable. The grounds are amazing, we saw so much just walking along the boardwalks - including lots of sitings of proboscis monkeys. What made it most special was Bryant,... More
