We've just come back from a week at the Vasco da Gama hotel in Monte Gordo. After reading other reviews on this site, I must admit to being a bit wary about the age group - and with good reason! The hotel seems to be geared around the over 70s, with entertainment to suit. Built in 1960, very little seems... more

We stayed at this hotel for 2 weeks in June 2007. We booked and paid for a room for 2-3 people (despite only 2 people in party), but on arrival were given a smaller room. The room was not so much tired, more moribund in every respect. I would have liked to have discussed this with our appointed COSMOS rep.... more

Just returned ffrom a week's holiday at this hotel. We were informed that many celebrities had stayed there in the past, but I doubt that any changes had been made in many years or that any celebrity had been near the place in years!!! The bedroom had antiquaited furniture and a disgusting smell of previous smokers who had resided therein.... more

I was sent to this hotel as an alternative holiday. What a disapointment. The hotel catered for the over 70's. It was dated with the bedroom having old darkbrown furniture that had seen better days. The bathroom was dark and dismal. The entertainment was poor and again catered for the older genration. The staff were very pleasant and helpful and... more

Not suitable for the youngish under 40 crowd and families as there is nothing to do or entertain children, unless you are with your grand parents!! Suitable for the older crowd as there are lots of pensioners . This hotel seems like it was a nice hotel 20 years ago but not now. Its in desperate need for refubishment and... more

Just returned from a fabulous holiday at this hotel. I booked on the strength of the other reviews I had read on this website about this hotel, and I was not disappointed. Although the decor may be dated, the whole place is spotless, inside and out. The two pools are immaculate and with a 2 minute walk to a wonderful... more

We stayed at the hotel from 27th July to the 7th August and we had a lovely stay. We have two boys, age seven and five. We chose the hotel because of the promised quiet location and hotel and it was. Lovely. The reception staff were extremely helpful, dealt with our families needs of emergency root canal treatment and an... more

This hotel is dated in design but everything was very clean and tidy. Breakfast was good and staff were very helpful. Great seaside location and good pool area too! Hotel restaurant/bar on the beach must be visited to sample superb bbq food (at a very reasonable price). Hotel location on the beach is ideal for beach lovers, miles of soft... more
