The friendly staff checked us into our room in the historic part of the hotel when we arrived from the Flam Railway. The lobby was lovely and the room well-appointed, including plenty of outlets for charging and toiletries in the bathroom. The beds were very comfortable. The rooms were not well-insulated and we could hear our neighbors, but since there... More

This is a beautiful converted farmhouse in the little scenic village of Flam. The setting is great with lovely views over the Fjord. The Flam railway departs just a minutes walk from the hotel, as is the Flam village. There are lovely walks in the vicinity of the hotel also. The room we had was nice - quite basic but... More

We only ate a buffet once in Norway and that was at the Freheim It is hugely expensive The previous writer has the price wrong. The price is 930K which after the "non sterling credit fee" on my amex is £105.67 and that was with a very modest tip and no alcohol or soft drinks The buffet was ok not... More

We stayed here one night after arriving by train. Easy walk from station. Very friendly front desk that checked us in 4 hours early as a room was available. Room is discounted with Fjord pass. We had the dinner buffet which was 425 Nok - pricey but incredible. If you want to try smoked whale, reindeer, 3 kinds of smoked... More

Many hotels have a checkin of 2pm or later, but they all try and give you a room earler if possible which is generally possible.Fretheim with its snobbish attitude not only make you wait till the clock strikes 4 and are totally unapologetic about it.. They also change your room according to your skin colour. The room for its price... More

I have found this gem when I was booking our Norway in a Nutshell tour. Hotel was a connection with the tour so that you could get a discount if you also buy Fjord-Pass. Our room was in second floor and had a fabulous view of fjords and part of the sea. Breakfast was out of this world. It was... More

Stayed here for three nights in an historical room. Room was very nice, well equipped and had an excellent view. Food was good, both the buffets and the menu. The staff were very friendly in the restaurants and on reception. We would definitely return if we visit Flam again

What a beautiful place to stay in this captivating part of Norway. The hotel was great in all areas, staff friendly and assisting, rooms comfortable with meals excellent with huge amount of choices. Walk to the train or ferry, run inside when it rains and enjoy a drink overlooking the fjord scenery.

If you get a chance to take the train or bus to Flåm, Norway, you will not be disappointed. Staying in the Fretheim Hotel makes the package complete! The customer service is superb and the food is incredible. I highly recommend this experience while you are in Norway!

I stayed one night at the Fretheim after arriving by train. As others have said, it's a very short (i.e. less than five minutes) walk to the hotel from the station; you can't miss the hotel. The hotel is situated in a fabulously beautiful setting - right on the fjord. I don't think I would stay here unless I could... More
