the hotel just beside the train station, but dont worry it doesnt make any noise at all. I love the scenary, the hotel also close to the cruise, so all you need is just walk. I love the apple tree's, where we can pick the apple tree's there and enjoy the fresh apple. and yeah of course, the staffs were... more

Because of a landslide on the road to the Stalheim Hotel where we were scheduled to stay as part of our "Norway in a Nutshell" tour, we were booked into the Fretheim only a day ahead of our stay. We expected to have a so-so room, but were delighted to find we had a room overlooking the fjord and a... more

Wow, I really liked this hotel. With the views from the glass front, restaurant on the second floor and bar on the third floor, it was perfect for views of Flam's fjord. Our room wasn't ready for checkin but we left our bags to explore. We were there on the Norway in a Nutshell path and after the boat left,... more

My husband and I recently stayed at the Fretheim Hotel in Norway on our 34th wedding anniversary. The town of Flam is touristy but beautiful if you can take advantage of the Norway in the Nutshell train ride and in the hiking nearby. But... don't bother staying over night and especially don't stay at the Fretheim Hotel. The staff is... more

We stayed here for one night as part of a Globus tour in June 2009. The location of this hotel is beautiful, surrounded by mountains. There isn’t much here, but scenery, so if you are looking for a hip city with lots of restaurants and things going on, Flam is not for you. But, if you are looking for amazing... more

I had booked a room with balcony and fjord view at an additional cost. We had to wait a long time to check in. There was only one person at the desk and a number of people checking in who arrived on the same train. When we got to our room, there was a window facing the fjord but there... more

My wife and I stayed for 3 nights at the Fretheim Hotel in Flam and although we had booked superior rooms we were told that for the first night they weren't available. The room we were given overlooked the railway and the concertina-type plastic door to the bathroom wouldn't close. The " pool " wasn't in use either despite the... more

Fretheim is in a fantastic location and the hotel building too looks stunning. Our room, however, did not fit the description. As a Norwegian myself I am fully aware of extreme Norwegian prices, but my experience is that when it comes to hotels you do actually get what you pay for. Fretheim proved me wrong: we had to move out... more

My boyfriend and I stayed at the Fretheim for one night during our tour of the fjords in Norway. The town of Flam doesn't have much going on and so there aren't many options of places to stay- but the location is great and the views of the fjords from our room were great to wake up to. If you... more
