We paid £385 for 2 nights bed & breakfast in a twin bed room with balcony overlooking fjord. Actually most of the time the balcony overlooks tourist shopping area & docked cruise ship ! Beds we're clean & comfortable & the room was quiet but there the praise stops. Our bathroom door was warped and wouldn't close, despite a notice saying... More

The hotel is quite historic. We enjoyed taking the informational tour of the hotel. Learned how it has changed over the years, and about the "ghost". The front of the hotel faces the fjord. We had a spectacular view from our hotel balcony. There are also great views from the upstairs bar area and the lobby/breakfast area. Really enjoyed sitting... More

We reserved and obtained a room with a Fjord view. Unfortunately, it was a corner room, such that there was a room on wing perpendicular to our floor with a window of a quest room six feet away from our balcony window. The net result is we has absolutely no privacy unless we kept out blinds shut. That was problematic... More

There really aren't any 'luxury' hotels in Flam to choose from. Fretheim isn't a super luxurious place but it does the job ok. We stayed in a room with a small balcony facing the main town. The room overlooked the hotel's front lawn and rose garden. Rooms were clean. Toilet has under-floor heating. Breakfast is on the second floor and... More

The hotel is amazing for so many reasons. The hotel is very nice, and the restaurant is very charming. The views are beautiful. The hotel itself has a very interesting history. The staff was very friendly and welcoming. We visited in spring, so the hotel was very quiet, which added to the quaintness of the area. We would absolutely go... More

On a road trip from Oslo to Bergen my girlfriend and I made a 1 night stop in Flam. We had booked a room with a fjord view and balcony at the Fretheim Hotel. Upon arrival a very nice receptionist, named Theres, welcomed us with a big smile and informed us that we had been upgraded to the Historical Tower... More

Elegance and comfort” 5 of 5 stars Reviewed 3 weeks ago A lovely hotel set in a beautiful environment. To walk to the main door through the perfume wafting from the surrounding rose garden set the scene for a wonderful stay. The staff were friendly and courteous even under pressure and had the ability to make us feel that we... More

Nice "historic" hotel in the heart of the fjords. Stayed one night on a biketour. Hotel in the upper class so prices are accordingly. Nice room on the top floor with view of the fjord. Two dinner Choices: Buffe dinner or fixed meny - choose the fixed meny as buffe dinner realy is more than needed and as most hotels... More

My sister and I stayed at the Fretheim Hotel as part of the "Norway in a Nutshell" trip from Oslo to Bergen. There were a few options avialable as part of the package but after doing some additional research I found that Fretheim was the best value for money and best location in town. AND IT WAS! Literally next to... More
