All I can say is that the selling point for this place is the spectacular view from the rooms facing the valley below. We stayed in the "Rick Steeves" suite and had the most amazing view from a huge terrace. The rooms were huge and clean. We didn't eat in the hotel restaurant but a local one that was good.... More

A nice clean, typical local Spanish hotel on the top of the hiil. Terrace rooms are a must for the view. Local restaurants close by. Getting up there is not an easy task if you drive. Narrow, one-way Spanish streets are a hazard! Alternatively, leave your car in the town and taxi up. Arcos is a bit over-rated to me.... More

The rooms in this hotel were very nice, clean and comfortable - attractively decorated and uncluttered, but the view from your balcony or terrace is just awesome. You are situated right on the edge of a cliff that drops off hundreds of feet and the valley is spread out below just begging to be photographed. It is a great place... More

This was a great choice for us. A spotless end room with amazing views of the countryside below. Hotel El Convento also has a lot of character as a Spanish Inn. We would gladly stay here again. We paid 65 E for a double and thoroughly enjoyed Arcos. Be careful if you drive all the way up to the Hotel... More

Pros: Great balcony views--have breakfast there. Friendly staff in spite of limited English. Cons: Aggressive wasp population -- not hotel's fault (several spots in town), but they should put up a few traps. More

This hotel is perched right on the cliff- there can't be too many places in this world with this kind of view. The rooms themselves are on the small side and have farily thin walls. This is pretty typical of hotels in Europe. There is nothing wrong with anything here, it's just that the construction top notch. That is why... More

Located in Old Town of Arcos. This is a fun area with lots of small cafes & outdoor tables, yet just a short walk into New Town. Be sure & get a terrace room – the small patio & view is wonderful. We took a 3 day break here after driving around Spain for 2 weeks & found it to... More

For a 2-star hotel in Spain, we were very happy with the accommodations. We stayed in Room 11 which is named for a famous Spanish poet (which eludes me now - FYI, there is also a Rick Steves room). Our room was quiet with basic toiletries and a working air conditioner. The breakfast is minimal and there is no lift.... More

We enjoyed our room with a view and the staff was very helpful. There is a computer for hotel guests to use. And, the hotel is locaed right next to the convent. In the morning you buy biscuits and cookies from the nuns! A really nice place to stay. No complaints at all. More

What a lovely stay at the simple, peaceful, pretty El Convento Hotel. The staff is sweet and helpful, and the views from the rooms can't be beat. We loved Arcos, but the main reason was our fabulous, inexpensive room with it's unbeatable view across the Guadelete river valley, out to the windmills in the distance. Swallows, swifts, doves swoop and... More
