There was so much about my stay that was first rate, I t is difficult to know where to start! I got a warm reception on my arrival, despite being dressed in soaking wet biking gear. Once dry and settled, I was given a masterful tour of the local Ales on offer by Abe, the barman. I then ordered food... More

Adam has gone, food still good, service dreadfully slow last weekend.with only one staff. Only one chef and no specials board. We only visted the restaurant which we had done the previous weekend when it was very good They had still not re-stocked the pinot grigio from previous week nor did they have sweet or dry martini in the bar... Just back from a lovely short break at 'The Crown Country Inn'. This 'olde worlde' pub ouzes originality, charm, and character, and is ideally located for the touring of the many local beauty-spots. The accommodation is spotlessly clean, comfortable, and more than adequate. The food is top-notch, varied, well prepared and presented. Service is excellent, helpful, caring, and considerate, at... We found this place via a Google search for somewhere to stop for lunch on our way to the Lake District. Although they didn't have any main meals available because they were doing a refurbishment, they had sandwiches and ploughman's lunches on offer. We went for the ploughman's. It was served with 3 different sorts of cheese and a large... More

Just back from 2 nights at the Crown Country Inn. Used as a base for exploring the Lake District. Less than 5 miles to Windermere. The Inn as a lovely blend of the old and the new. Bar and dining areas were old and the bedrooms and bathroom the new. Bed was very comfortable, plenty of tea and coffee available... More

Evening meal only - did not stay over. Main course was perfectly acceptable and fairly priced. Service was friendly and cheerful. Desserts were exceptional and you would not have thought they came from the same kitchen. Strongly recommend that you leave room for one if you go. . Overall, nothing exceptional but worth a visit for the desserts alone.

Stayed for the weekend with friends. When we arrived we discovered there was a beer festival on with 'special' (limited) food menu. Didn't really create a problem but nothing on web site about this and an e-mail in advance would have been helpful. Had supper there on the Friday but ate out on Saturday. Having said that we had a... More
